Throwback Thursday: Blog Style Vol. 5

It's been over a year since I did a blog throwback, & I've been a little less than motivated to come up with things to talk about on the blog this week, so here we are.

2010
30 before 30 - I was 21 when I wrote this list.  I am now 3 months away from turning 30 & have a whole new list.  Supposedly there was a link somewhere but I can't find it so I have no idea how much I completed.  My guess is little to none based on how I described it.

2011
Military Mondays - Apparently I had weekly posts that were military, & probably Branden, related despite that we had broken up 9 months earlier...

2012
Scavenger Hunt Sunday - I said it in my last blog throwback post too but I really do miss the whole Scavenger Hunt Sunday link-up.  I suppose the FMSPAD challenge I do on Instagram is kind of the same thing...

2013
Sunday Social - I also really miss this link-up.  This week it was music related.

2014
It's What's For Dinner - Man I did a lot of link ups!  This one was for a blog a day link-up & the theme of the day is 5 people I'd want to have at my dinner party... I'd still like to have dinner with all of these people.

2015
And The Thunder Rolls - A weekend recap that is worth a click if only so you can watch the 3 second video of me drinking a "Minnetonka Motorboat"

2016
Money Money Money - For awhile I did annual debt check ins.  Then, I went to grad school, took out more student loans, & stopped.  Oddly enough though, just a few days ago I decided that I really need to get my financial life in check again.  I don't know what it is about July that makes me take a hard look at my finances...

2017
Things I Wish I Knew Before Getting A Puppy - I've now had Nash for over a year, but at the time I had only had him for 3 weeks.  It's all still solid advice & not much has changed.  Except now he can't fit under the couch anymore...

Everything Changes

Awhile ago Nadine did a post about why you should Never Say Never & Steph did a post about Things That Used To Be Important.  I really loved both of these posts & wanted to do my own that was similar to both of them.  A look back at where I was in life, where I thought I'd be, & what was important to me at the time.

1 Year Ago - 27 (2016)
-Trying to decide whether or not I wanted to keep teaching or not
-Starting grad school
-Letting go of a boy who just couldn't make me any type of priority after many many months
-Trying to find a place to live
-Trying to find a job
-Wanting to start making my blog more than just a random place I sometimes wrote in

5 Years Ago - 23 (2012)
-Trying to make the most of my summer before moving to Texas
-Getting ready to move to Texas for real
-Wanting to date a cop in my hometown while knowing I'd be moving in a couple of months
-Trying to transition from college life to grown up life
-Being unsure if I had made the right decision in sticking with an education major
-Wishing I had gotten a job in Minnesota so I wouldn't have to leave everyone

10 Years Ago - 18 (2007)
-Preparing for college
-Getting ready to move away from home for the first time ever
-Worrying about moving away from my boyfriend
-Stressing about my boyfriend joining the military
-Looking forward to "being an adult" & making new friends
-Thinking I would never live in a small town again
-Thinking I wanted to be an elementary school teacher

Only 90s Kids Will Remember

First of all, I hate those posts.  Why?  Well because I didn't have cable until 2007 when I went to college.  That means I know about almost none of the stuff they post in those articles because I didn't have access to Nick & all of that fun stuff.  Ok pity party over...

About a month ago Steph & Nadine both did a fun little survey about the 90s.  As an avid lover of the 90s, I had to play along.

I was born in 1988, October 23 to be exact.  The 90s was basically my adolescence.  I rang in the 90s at the ripe age of 1 & was 11 when the 2000s came about.

Favorite Disney Film
The Fox & The Hound

The Little Mermaid is my favorite princess movie though

Favorite Disney Channel Original Movie
None because again, I didn't have cable until 2007

Favorite Music Artist
Backstreet Boys.  I once hyperventilated on my way into one of their concerts.  No shame.

Favorite Candy
The pink & purple nerds or the watermelon laffy taffy with the fake black seeds

Favorite Game (Board/School/Etc)
My favorite board game was Life

In school I loved playing dodgeball

Favorite McDonalds Happy Meal Toy
The beanie babies of course.  Beanie babies pretty much ran the 90s.

Favorite Book
The Little House on the Prarie series & the Babysitters Club Series.  In like the 1st grade my friend & I were so obsessed that we tried to start our own club.  Because obviously people were going to hire 7 year olds to watch their kids...

Favorite Show
Does the entire TGIF line up count??  If not it's a tie between Full House & Boy Meets World.  Sabrina & Step by Step were up there too.  Yeah, I stand by my original choice of the entire line up.

Weirdest Fashion Trend
Platform shoes.  Thanks a lot Spice Girls... I actually owned a pair of these, except in bright blue.
