Before I Go

In approximately 3 months I'll be leaving Texas to move back to Minnesota.  There are a few things on my 101 in 1001 list that are Texas specific so my main focus right now is those 10 things as far as the list goes.  Well, a couple of them aren't Texas specific but I would like them finished before I leave.

Consider these my spring goals!

1. Pay off smaller credit card

2. Visit 3 Texas wineries

3. Visit 3 Texas breweries

4. Visit 3 Texas distilleries

5. Finish my Minnesota estate courses

6. Photograph 10 Houston area murals

7. Get Danny all of this stuff back

8. Try 3 Texas BBQ places

9. Go to the local farmer's market 5 times

10. Visit my Texas friends before I move

August Goals

I haven't done a goals post since March, & I'm pretty sure I didn't complete most of them...

1. Start Transform20 again
I had started Transform20 back when it initially came out in January.  I made it through 4.5-5 of the 6 weeks & then quit.  This time I'm not quitting.  I actually just started 21 Day Fix again this week but when that's done I'll jump into T20.

2. Get through 2 grad school classes
My courses at WGU start today actually.  I am going to try my hardest to get it all done in 6 months & since it's 12 courses I'm aiming to get at least 2 done per month

3. Blog every day
I actually wrote down post ideas for each day Mon-Fri for all of August last month.  Now the trick will be sticking to it.

4. Get my new apartment set up
I got back down to my apartment this past Saturday & got all of my stuff moved in on Monday.  Now I just need to get everything set up & decorated how I want.

5. Get my new classroom set up
The school year starts on the 19th & I'll be teaching a new subject this year, US History.  This year I want to have a theme to my classroom.  I'm aiming for Instagram themed.

6. No fast food
Besides the fact that I need to start being healthier again, I also need to start saving money.

7. Meal plan/prep each week
Being at my parents' for the last 2 months meant that I didn't have to meal plan/prep.  Sure I helped with ideas & cooking but that was usually on a day to day basis.  Now that I'm back to completely fending for myself, & going back to work soon, I need to get back into the habit of planning healthy meals for the week & getting them all prepped on Sundays.

8. Track spending
A lot is & needs to change this year financially.  First of all, I'm starting a new job which means my salary is different.  My bills will also be different because I'm living in a new place & have a roommate again for the first time in years.  Not only that though, my debt & spending are ridiculous.  There are certain things that I can't control because what's done is done, but I can control what I spend from here forward.  So first things first, detailed tracking of what I spend my money on for the month of August & then seeing where I can make cuts.

9. Restart a gratitude journal
I had one before & I could definitely feel a change in my mood.  I was just happier in general while doing it.  Then life happened & I stopped doing it.  I really need to get back at it.

10. Find a new hobby
Preferably a free or cheap one.   I just need something to get me out of my routine without breaking the bank.  I have a habit of getting stuck in a routine of work, home, work, home.  I don't want that to keep happening but know that unless I actively try to figure something out it's going to.  Especially since I'll also be throwing grad school work on top of it.

Dreams & Gratitude

Last month I decided to follow some Rachel Hollis advice.  I followed her 10-10-1 plan.   What does the best version of you look like in 10 years?  What are 10 dreams that need to come true in order for that to be a reality?  What is 1 goal that you can work on to make your dreams come true?  I also decided to write down 10 things I was grateful for each day.

While I'm not going to type out my in 10 years, I will share with you the 10 dreams that I wrote down each day as well as what goal I worked on this month & 10 of the things I was grateful for.

10 Things I'm Grateful For
1) Getting my car fixed fast & cheap
2) Getting gas station tacos & DQ w/Ryan
3) Getting a picture of Nash in Bluebonnets
4) Getting to drive myself to the softball game
5) Eric Church concert
6) Catching up on grading
7) Going to Houston for a weekend
8) Getting almost 9 hours of sleep
9) Getting to see girls I coached as freshmen, play in a playoff game as seniors
10) Getting a new manicure

10 Dreams
1)I have no student loan/credit card debt
2)I don't have to take daily prescription pills
3)I live in XXX (Houston area)
4)I am married
5)I have 3 children
6)I exercise 5 times/week
7)I have $10,000 in savings
8)I enjoy my career
9)I get massages monthly
10)I go on vacation 2 times/year

1 Goal
30 active minutes every day for 30 days
(This is still my goal.  I'm trying to get 30 minutes for 30 days straight.  So every time I have a day where I don't get 30 min in I go back to 0)

ABCs of Spring 2019

I did a post like this last spring & so I thought, "why the heck not?!"  Especially since this year the end of spring (aka May) is also my end of time in Texas.  Just for a couple of months though, have no fear I'll be returning to Texas at the end of summer.  So here are some things I'd like to accomplish before the end of May.

Active minutes.  I want to get 30 days in a row with at least 30 active minutes.

Blog 29 more times.  I sent a goal to blog 50 times in the spring...this is only post 21.  I do have quite a few posts drafted up though so as long as I actually get them all done & published this shouldn't be a problem

Clean my apartment.  Well not me, I want to get it professionally cleaned when I move out.

Drink all the beer in my fridge.  I have had a bunch of different craft beers in my fridge since Christmas.  I don't want to pack them up when I move, & I certainly don't want to throw them away.

Edit grad school case study

Finish Gossip Girl

Girls' weekend.  A couple of my friends from college are coming to visit at the beginning of May.

Houston.  I'm going back to Houston for a weekend for the first time in like 2 years!

Instagram.  My goal for spring was to get my followers to 5500.  Right now I'm at

Job...as in get a new one down in the Houston area, preferably without coaching.

Kick my sinus infection

Lay out by the pool

Manicure.  Get one last manicure before summer begins.  I plan on letting my nails go natural, or just painted myself, over the summer

New places.  I have a bunch of places in the DFW area that I have taken screenshots of over time (places to take pictures, restaurants, coffee shops) & I want to try to get to as many as possible

Order pizza from Ifratelli.  I got a deal with them from a local influencer website & now I just need to use it

Pack & purge.  I don't have a ton of excess stuff, but I definitely have stuff I could get rid of.  When I pack up to move I want to get rid of all of the extra

Quick trip to the laundromat to wash a couple of comforters

Reunion Tower

Softball season ending

Track my spending

Use my HelloFresh gift card

Visit my friend Emily in Oklahoma

Winery.  There are a few around me & I'd like to check at least one of them out

eXplore possible options to donate my hair this summer

Yellow roses

Zoo.  I have lived in Dallas-Fort Worth for nearly 4 years & have never been to the Dallas Zoo or Fort Worth Zoo, I want to change that

Spring 2019 Goals

I was going to recap my winter goals, but a hectic past 2 months means pretty much none of them got accomplished.  I did get my MN teaching license & finished my Spotify playlist.  There are possibly a couple others but I wasn't keeping track.  So I'm starting fresh.  I'm leaving winter behind, & wish mother nature would do the same!

1. 5500 Followers on Instagram
2. Whole30 (March 18-April 16)
3. Visit a winery
4. Blog 50 times
5. Stick to my 60 workout plan (Mar 4-May 2)
6. Pay a professional to clean my apartment when I move out
7. Actually cut my hair
8. Take a blue bonnet photo
9. Make 3 Instant Pot recipes
10. Spring clean my Pinterest boards

Some of these were inspired by my 101 in 1001, others were not.  I'll be honest, I'm leaving that in the past too.  Mostly because I stopped keeping track of some of them that were do XYZ a certain number of times.  Also because there are ones that I just flat out don't care about anymore.  So from here forward it will just be my seasonal goals.

What's on your spring to do/goals/bucket list?

Monday Morning Coffee Vol. 2

Happy Monday!  This is my last week of getting to leave at 4:10.  Well, actually Thursday is the last day I get to leave at 4:10.  Softball season officially begins on Friday!  Linking up with Biana!

Going back to work after a long break is extra hard.  Even when it's not a full week back...  That's probably why my go to Monday cup is my "Oh For Fox Sake" cup.  Last week wasn't all that bad though, there were actually quite a few great moments!  So grab a cup of coffee, or tea if that's more your thing, & let me share a few with you!

**First of all, only having to be at work from 8:30-12 on Monday, without students, was pretty stellar.  It definitely helped that the weather was nice too.  It was actually the last nice day.  So, Nash-o & I took advantage & went for a walk at the park.**

**I finally made a vision board...**

**...and wouldn't you know 1 day later I got published!!  It may not have been my case study, & don't worry that stays on the board, but published is published my friends!  Voyage Houston posted an interview that I did with them about blogging & my new business!**

**Friday I took a half day.  That's right, I lasted all of 3 days with my students before I needed a break.  I love my seniors, & have plans for the full days I still have available to me, so I took Friday morning off.  Holy hell it was glorious.**

**I finally got my ratchet looking nails fixed.  Not only were my nails overdue, it was also great to do something for myself after returning to work.  When I say going back to work was rough, I mean it was ROUGH.  It was like starting the year all over again.  Long story short, self-care was needed**

**I got the sweetest surprise in the mail on Saturday & it came at the perfect time.  I know that I've VERY briefly & vaguely talked about my business before, but I work with an amazing group of women.  This business saved me.  Physically, mentally, emotionally.  I was hating my job, I had been in the ER for high blood pressure twice, & my anxiety was through the roof.  This.  Business.  Saved me.   The leader of my team decided to start a movement within us this year.  A giving key.  Ours says "believe" & we are supposed to secretly send it to another team member each month along with why we think they're so deserving.  Well, not only had going back to work have me down on the dumps, but I was also starting to feel like a failure with my new business.  So, to be the first one to get the key, & at just the right time, was a God send.  I definitely cried in my kitchen when I opened it & read Brittany's sweet sweet note.**

**Another great opportunity that my new business brought me this week:  The chance to be surrounded by so many motivated & supportive people.  The chance to learn more about my business.  The chance to meet 2 new friends who are a part of my larger team.  The chance to do a live freaking workout with Shaun freaking T**

5 Tips For Reaching Your Goals

Happy Friday!  I hope that this week treated you well & that you have a fantastic weekend!

Goals

This coming Sunday is "Make Your Dreams Come True" Day.  I'm obviously all about that with my new approach to 2019!  On Wednesday I posted my vision board, which for the record, the day after I made it & a few hours after posting it, one partially came true!  BEHOLD THE POWER OF THE VISION BOARD!

So without further ado, here are 5 tips to help you reach those goals!

1. Make SMART goals
Specific
Measurable
Achievable
Realistic
Timely

2. Be true to YOU
Set goals because YOU want to achieve them.  Not because it's what you think would make others happy or because it's what society expects from you.

3. Know your WHY
You need to know WHY the goal is important to you & WHY you want to accomplish it.  If you don't know why it's important to you, you're not likely to achieve it.

4. Track your performace
Whether that's daily, weekly, monthly, whatever works for you.  Keep track of your progress.  Seeing how far you've come already is great motivation to keep you going.

5. Celebrate!
No matter what the end goal is, & no matter how small you think your achievement is, celebrate it!  Say your goal is to run a 5k & you haven't run in years, or ever!  Celebrate that first solid minute of running!  Heck, celebrate the first time you lace up your tennis shoes & get to it!  Be proud of your accomplishments & keep doin the damn thing!

Manifesting Your Dreams in 2019 With a Vision Board

Something that I've always love, but never actually done because my crafting skills are usually at about nil, is the idea of a Vision Board.

Blame it on all of the personal development books I've been listening to, I decided that this was going to be the year that I made one.  So I sat down & started planning out my blog content for the year, & since my first month is about transforming my mindset, and because it's the first month of the year, talking about Vision Boards seemed like a good topic to be one of the first to hit the blog.  Wouldn't you know it there was soon a training that popped up in one of the coaching groups that I belong to so I watched it & took some notes.  I already had last week's blog posts completed so I plugged "vision board" into today's slot on my spreadsheet.  Then guess what happened??  At the end of last week a "vision board creation party" was created for last night in that same coaching group!  Perfect timing!  As a group we wrote out our major goals for the year & started in on creating our vision boards.  Look at that, manifesting my goals already!

So how do you make a vision board?  Well there are lots of options!

Write down your goals
We spent about 10 minutes just listing out what we wanted to happen this year.  Remember to DREAM BIG!  Possible topics to consider:
-Career
-Finances
-Family
-Faith
-Health
-Relationships

Make them measurable
Don't just say "I want to lose weight."  How much do you want to lose & by when?  Once you've figured out your broad goals, write down a measurable amount & time frame.

Choose if you want it to be physical or digital
1. Some people to get out their craft materials & get to work making a physical one.
That's not me though.  Partly because I don't have magazines or a printer at home & I'm not about to run out & buy that plus the glue & fun things just to make one.

2. Or make one digitally which is what I did.  I got on Canva & used my free account to make my collage.  I used the Blog Banner template but you can use whatever makes your heart happy.

Get to creating!
Once you have your goals written down, you've made them measurable, & you've decided what you want your vision board to look like, it's time to get to work.  No two vision boards are going to look the same... and they shouldn't!  Also, don't worry if it's not "pretty."  I'll share mine in a hot second but I can promise you it's nothing to write home about.  With time they'll get better & better looking.  Unless you're just a crafting/graphic design rock star in which case I'm sure your first one will be gorgeous!

Put it somewhere you'll see it ALL. THE. TIME!
If you're making a physical one, hang it up on the wall!  In your bathroom, your bedroom, somewhere you're going to see it every day!

If you're making a digital one, make it your phone or computer background!

I'm going to be getting mine printed out in color & attaching it to the cork board part of my calendar I look at daily in my kitchen,

So what did mind wind up looking like??

In case you can't read it:
-Move back to MN (June)
-Be a Diamond coach by Summit (July)
-Pay off credit card debt (Dec)
-Find a healthy/mature long-term relationship (June-Dec)
-Visit a place I've never been (Dec)
-Finish Transform 20 & 80 Day Obsession (June)
-Get out of the classroom (Sep)
-Get a place with a yard for Nash (June-Dec)
-Get my case study published (Dec)

Have you ever made a vision board before?  Where do you put yours?

How Do You Cozy - Still Weekending

Happy Labor Day everyone!  I'm still off of work until Wednesday, today for Labor Day & tomorrow for an appointment.  Since my friend is still in town until later this morning I'll recap my weekend tomorrow.  Until then I'm linking up with Andrea for The Blended Blog Asks: How Do You Cozy edition!

1. Slippers: Yes or No?
Nope.  I own a couple pairs actually but I never wear them.

2. What is your favorite blanket?
I love fleece blankets.  I have a gray one at my place that I'm obsessed with & my parents have a heavier brown one that I pretty much live under whenever I visit Minnesota.

3. Thin or Thick pillow?
I used to always think thick, and slept with 2, but then over the summer while I was at my parents' I realized that I was waking up with headaches because I had too many thick pillows & my neck was all weird at night.  So now, thinner & no headaches.

4. Favorite warm beverage?
Hot chocolate... with marshmallows!

5. Robe: Yes or No?
Nope

6. Favorite comfort snack food?
Chips & dip

7. Movies or TV series binge?
TV series... currently Heartland

8. Actual PJs or Leggings?
Neither?  Tshirt & usually some type of bottoms

9. Do you cozy up on the couch or a chair?
Couch for sure

10. Hoodie, T-shirt, or Sweater?
Give me all the hoodies!

A new month & a new season are upon us.  And even though fall doesn't technically start until the 22, I'm OCD & like my things to start on the 1st.  Later this week I'll recap how my summer goals went, not well, but today I'm sharing what my goals are for fall.

1. Have 4300 followers on Instagram
2. Blog 50 times
3. Write a letter to 20 & 40 year old me
4. Go to 10 new bars/restaurants
5. Do 5 Dallas Bucket List items
6. Make 10 Pinterest food recipes
7. Celebrate 30th birthday
8. Have a treat yoself day
9. Finish 10 101 in 1001 items
10. Have September lesson plans done by 9/7, October by 10/5, & November by 11/9 (I got this idea from Lauren @ All About That Mommy Life)

P.S. Sarah @ Meet the Shaneyfelts & her husband are selling cute t-shirts to help raise money for their adoption process.  Check them out!

Summer Goals July Recap

I did a pretty poor job with my goals in July, especially considering what I got done in June & how well I did on my spring goals.  With that being said, it is very unlikely that I complete all, or even most, of these goals by the end of August.  With softball & volleyball all this week, teachers returning to work in the middle of next week, & students returning on the 20th I'm aiming for 50% this time...

1. Have 3600 IG followers
July 3: 3119
Aug 1: 3247

2. Write 45 blog posts
June: 16
July: 16
August:

3. Read 3 books
a.
b.
c.
