Monday Morning Coffee *4/5*

Happy Monday!  I hope that everyone had a good Easter weekend!  I had a 5 day weekend & it was so nice!  I'm sad that it has come to an end.  This week should be a fairly easy week though & then I'm back to two back to back short weeks.

Friday
Honestly I don't remember much of Friday.  I had such big plans.  I was going to finally go to the fancy Goodwill, maybe take Nash to a brewery with a food truck!  But then I bought a new course to help out with future career plans & instead signed up myself up to do DoorDash over lunch & supper.  I was only scheduled for an hour & half for lunch but I only made it an hour.  I made $15 & then had to go home.  My allergies were kicking my butt!  I wound up taking a nap a couple hours later for probably an hour or so & then STILL went to bed early.  My scheduled Dash for supper did not happen.

Saturday
Again, more grand goals that did not happen.  I had signed myself up for 2 DoorDash shifts again, did neither again.  It was too nice being at home with Nash.  I got my meal prep done for lunches (buffalo chicken salads) & suppers (sausage one sheet pan meal.)  Since I had decided to stay home I thought maybe I'd start my new course, but I have to print a few worksheets for it so I decided to wait until this week to start it.  My next grand plan was to get to the halfway point on my second MN real estate class.  I had left off at 18% & told myself that if I worked on it all day I should have no problem getting to at least 50%... I got distracted & quit at 22%.

Sunday

Sunday was the big day.  Sunday I did all the things!  I set my alarm for 4:30, but wound up waking up at 3:30 & laying there for about an hour, took care of Nash, ate some breakfast, & then was on my way!  I've been wanting to watch the sunrise in Galveston for awhile now & finally did it.  I took myself down there, enjoyed the sunrise & walked along the beach & the seawall for about an hour before heading into Houston.  I thought about just going home but then decided to find the love lock bridge with a view of the skyline.  I found that & then briefly walked around that park.  Then I figured since I was down there I should find more murals, & what do ya know I found SIX on one building!  Score!  And then since it was nice out, & there were next to no people out, I decided to walk around downtown for a little bit & even took myself to the one & only Einstein Bagel (my addiction when I lived in Dallas-Fort Worth) in the Houston area before finally heading home to Nash.  I took him to the dog park for like 30 min or so but was SO exhausted from my morning that we headed home.  I spent the rest of the day both trying to nap & then fighting a nap.

Monday Morning Coffee *3/29*

Happy Monday!  It's the last Monday in March & I'm not entirely sure if this month took forever or flew by.  I'm leaning towards took forever.  I am pumped for April because I get to see a couple of different friends that I haven't seen in forever!  Tomorrow I'm getting my 2nd dose of the Covid vaccine so I only have to be at work for two days this week!  Excellent way to end March!

Friday
Out of nowhere on Friday my anxiety skyrocketed around lunchtime.  I made it through the rest of the day & then immediately grabbed Nash when I got home & took him to the dog park for a hot minute so we could both get some fresh air.

My mom sent Nash a couple of different dog beds to try out from Amazon & the first one arrived Friday afternoon so when we got back from the dog park Nash tried to decide how he felt about it (he's still unsure but has progressed to sleeping next to it or using it as a pillow) while I watched Drunk History on Hulu.

Saturday
As far as anxiety goes, Saturday wasn't much better.  I had had a few different nightmares so I just had that awful unsettled feeling when I woke up.  I laid around & listened to meditation music for awhile to calm myself & then got ready to take my first Minnesota real estate exam.  I was pretty much having a panic attack through that whole thing too because I thought I needed a 70% to pass but I needed a 75% & I had been thinking that I was fine because my practice exams were all 72%-78%.  I wound up getting a 78% on the exam so all was well.

After the test I took Nash to the dog park for a bit so he could get some energy out & I could try to get my steps in.  Nash got good and tired out, I hit my step goal, & then we met my friend/coworker at a local brewery for a few beers & some food.  As always, Nash was the star of the show.  Wherever we go everyone falls in love with him & he eats it up trying to be everyone's best friend.

On the drive home I started crying.  Finally.  It's been trying to happen for awhile but I'm usually somewhere super inconvenient when the tears start coming so I just push them back.  But I cried pretty much the whole 15 minute drive home listening to sad music & then I felt better.  Anxiety be gone.  Nash was super worn out from the dog park & being the life of the party at the brewery so we pretty much just laid on the couch until bedtime.

Sunday

On Sunday I had planned on going to Goodwill in the rich part of Houston but while waiting for them to open I started & finished listening to one book on Audible, started another, did my laundry, & meal prepped.  After doing all of that I just didn't have the energy or want to drive into Houston to go shopping.  So instead I started watching Letterkenny on Hulu.  I half ass watched it most of the afternoon/evening & I don't know why.  I wasn't super paying attention because I was also getting all of my lesson plans set up for the week, writing this blog post, & playing on my phone.  But anytime I did look up it was like a car wreck.  Despite how bad it was I just couldn't turn it off.  Worn out from his big weekend, Nash just alternated between napping by me & staring me down for treats.

Monday Morning Coffee *3/22*

Happy Monday everyone!  I'm back at work & less than thrilled about it.  Going back to work after a long break is always hard.  The countdown is on though!  There are 51 teacher days, 48 student days, & I only have 42-44 days!  My parents were here for the week during my spring break so rather than doing a blog post on Friday with a partial recap of my spring break, I decided to just hold off until today & do the whole thing in one shot.

Monday 3/15
Monday morning Nash & I went to the dog park early.  It was nice being one of the very few people/dogs there.  Afterwards we hit up Starbucks & headed home.  We got home only to find out that the cops & SWAT had been at the complex since right about the time we left for the dog park.  They were there for SEVEN hours.  Apparently some guy pulled a gun on his neighbor & then barricaded himself in his apartment & refused to come out.  In the end he finally surrendered & went to jail.  Luckily no one was actually harmed during any of this.  That meant that we spent most of the day just hanging out in the bedroom waiting for the chaos to end.

That evening my parents arrived & we hung out for a little while & ordered some Mexican takeout.

Tuesday 3/16
Tuesday we went to a few antique shops (I'm desperate to find old undeveloped film and/or an old diary) & then got some BBQ & chocolates.  We spent the rest of the day/evening just hanging out at my apartment.

Wednesday 3/17
Wednesday took us on an adventure.  The weather was supposed to be crummy around Houston so we headed west.  My dad has a couple of old Jeeps & happened to see a Jeep part online so we went & picked that up from someone's house, hiked around Palmetto State Park, & then got some BBQ at Kreuz Market.  We got back relatively late that night so we didn't do much before going to bed.

Thursday 3/18
Thursday we headed down to Galveston.  We walked along the seawall for awhile & then went to go find Galveston Island State Park to hike around a little more.  However, there was a crazy line to get in so we opted to drive to Kemah instead to have lunch on the boardwalk.

Friday 3/19
Since it was my parents' last full day in Texas we just had a very relaxed day.  We took Nash to the dog park for a little while but mostly just watched movies at my apartment.  For supper we went to Spring Creek BBQ which is the first BBQ place that we ever ate at when I first moved to Texas.

Saturday 3/20
After breakfast on Saturday morning they loaded up the truck & started their drive back to Minnesota.  Nash & I went to the dog park again but he only lasted 30 minutes before he wanted to go home.  We spent pretty much the entire day watching Netflix and napping.  My first ever Shein purchases arrived & I was pretty stoked.  I got myself a new phone case & attempted to get Nash a cow jacket.  It doesn't fit him.  It's not wide enough.  But you know who it will fit?  Any future baby I have lol.  It unsnaps & looks just like those animal baby bathrobes.  Human baby getting the fur baby hand me downs.  I have no shame.  I also ordered some actual clothes for me which I love.  I will try to take pictures & make a blog post showing them all off.

Sunday 3/21
Sunday was another very low key day.  We went to the dog park for probably about 45 minutes until some rat dog came at Nash out of nowhere & I just about lost my mind.  Nash was just chillin by me & the rat dog came running at him barking & tried biting at him.  Rather than punt the dog across the park like I wanted to I put Nash on his leash & we went home to just lay around again all day watching Netflix & attempting to mentally prepare for my return to work.

Monday Morning Coffee *3/15*

Happy Monday everyone!  I hope that you had a great weekend!  Even though I haven't been at work since about 9:30 Friday morning, my spring break officially starts today.  My parents should be arriving some time today & will be here until Friday or Saturday visiting.  This time under much different circumstances as last time they were helping me move into my new place after I left Danny.

Friday
Friday was a teacher work day & an asynchronous learning day for the students.  Despite the fact that I took the day off, I went into work from about 7:30-9:30 for a couple of meetings.  If it hadn't been for the fact that I needed to tell my department chair & skills specialist that I was planning on not back to MN after the school year, I would have just Zoomed in or not showed up at all.

When I got home Nash & I headed off to the vet.  As soon as we arrived he realized it was not just a fun car ride.  Everything checked out & this time not a word was said about his weight; unlike last time when they told me he was getting too chunky.

After the vet I ate lunch & hung out with him for a bit before I headed off to Goodwill.  I wanted some new clothes but didn't want to spend a ton.  I spent about $45 but for that I got those cute little bloomers for my friend who has having a baby in a couple of months, a couple books for said baby, & like 8 or 9 pieces of clothing for myself.  I also stopped at a cute little boutique where I bought a shirt & saw the Texas flag mural on the side of it that I just had to take a picture of.  One of my 101 goals is to photograph 10 Houston area murals & this was a great one to kick it off.

I planned on being productive when I got home but instead just hung out with Nash, did my workout, & then watched some Netflix.

Saturday
Saturday morning I was supposed to take my first MN real estate course exam.  Except my computer was acting a fool & so I wasn't able to do it.  Now I'll have to lose the $25 & the exam.  I am still hoping to have all 3 courses taken care of by the time I get back to MN this summer so that I can start real estate stuff up there ASAP.  I also applied to my first MN teaching job!  I'm waiting around for others to open up though because I'd really rather be in a different area.

I wasn't super productive.  I did get my laundry done & the living room vacuumed.  I decided to go back to my Audible books too so that I could also tackle the read/listen to 33 books goal on my 101 in 1001 list.  I had already started The Dead Drink First so I jumped in where I had left off.

That night I met up with my friend Meg for dinner & drinks since I hadn't seen her in 9-10 months.  It was great to catch up!  Pretty sure the food got us both sick though.  Needless to say I won't be going back there.  Nothing there was good enough to make a second attempt.

Sunday
Sunday we did nothing.  I was going to get all of my cleaning done, maybe pack up a few things that I didn't need/want here so my parents can bring that back with them when they leave next weekend.  I thought it was supposed to be rainy all day so it seemed like a good use of my day.  But it was so bright & warm in the morning that Nash & I soaked up some sun for awhile.  Before I knew it, it was all over.  Nash & I were relaxing & finishing up House of Cards on Netflix.  Soon I turned the lights off, I found myself under a weighted blanket, & then the calming rain started.  Ok I *did* go to the grocery store for a couple of things.  And we also went to McDonald's for supper because Aunt Flo is on her way & the pizza rolls I had eaten earlier just weren't cutting it.

In hopes of starting your week off with a little laugh, I'm going to leave you with the message I sent my friends about my slightly awkward laundry experience from Saturday...

Excuse me while I add those handshakes to the list of things that now randomly keep me up for the rest of my life...

Have a great week!

Monday Morning Coffee *3/8*

Happy Monday everyone!  It's my last week of work before spring break!  Last year we went on spring break & never came back... With people traveling, & the mask mandate being lifted in just 2 days in Texas, I can't say that I'm 100% confident that that won't happen again...  On the bright side a lot of businesses are still requiring them, people are starting to get vaccinated (I get my first dose tomorrow!), & from what I hear a lot of people are still CHOOSING to wear masks.  Hopefully all that will help.  And if not, well then at least we've been doing some form of virtual for a year now & we'd be better equipped to handle a return to all virtual than we were last year.  Anyway... on with my weekend!

Friday
Friday after work I did DoorDash for about an hour & a half before calling it quits.  I had been craving wings so I decided to try out a place nearby where I live now since I'm all about trying out new places & trying 50 new bars/restaurants/coffee shops is on my 101 in 1001 list.  The wings were good, the ranch was amazing!  The ranch alone would have me going back to try more wing flavors or some of their other food.

At work that day a teacher friend from up by Dallas sent me a Google Form for teachers to fill out to get scheduled for the Covid vaccine so I filled that out & then impatiently waited all day & night to see if I'd get one.

Saturday
Saturday was a full day for Nash & me.  We started out the morning at the dog park.  We were there for an hour and a half, which is longer than he normally lasts, because we had an appointment at 10 & had nowhere else to go until then.

After making all the friends at the park we went to Woof Gang so that Nash could get himself a bath & a nail trim.  That took about an hour & a half as well but there is a coffee/crepe place right by it so I hung out there.  I had been there for coffee a handful of times but had never eaten there.  I was starving so I got myself a smore's crepe & a king cake latte.  Confession: that was the first time I had had a crepe... ever.  Normally I am not one to shy away from sweet food in the morning but holy goodness... between the crepe & the latte it was SO MUCH sugar.

I felt like shit for awhile & had to lay down when we got home.  This was Nash's 2nd time getting a bath at Woof Gang & they always put a bandana on him at the end.  Perfect timing because his shirt came in the mail that day.  Lookin so fly!

I went out & did DoorDash for about an hour that afternoon but then went home to finish up the coursework on my 1st Minnesota real estate class & then just hung out with Nash & watched Netflix.  I was so tired that I was asleep by 8-8:30 that night.

Sunday
I had planned on taking Nash to the dog park for another hour on Sunday morning but he was still so tuckered out from his big day on Saturday that we just stayed home instead.  I went to the grocery store to pick up a couple of things I hadn't been able to get from my curbside pick-up order on Friday, got some new flowers, finished Love on Netflix, took my first practice text for my 1st MN real estate course, scheduled my first exam, took a nap, & just had a chill day.  I also talked to Presley (Danny's daughter) on the phone for a couple of minutes.  Apparently she has been asking her mom & Danny about me & has been telling her mom that we're friends.  That little girl is probably what I miss the most.  I loved getting to be her bonus mom.

Monday Morning Coffee *3/1*

It's March!  How does this year seem like it's dragging on & flying by at the exact same time?!  I already know March is going to fly by.  I'm only at work 16 days this month.  Thank goodness for spring break & a couple of other random days off!  But before we can kick March off, here's a look at how I spent the last weekend of February!

Friday
Friday after work I tried taking Nash to the dog park that's closer to where we live now.  We're now 0/2.  For some reason he is not a fan.  He hasn't even actually made it into the dog park.  We make it about 20 feet from the car, he digs his heels in, & then walks me right back to the car.  Needless to say, we won't be trying that dog park anymore.  I also started doing DoorDash again.  I have a few fun friend trips coming up before I leave Texas so I figured I should start back up.  I didn't hit the goal I had set for myself but I also quit early because I didn't want to be trying to find houses/apartments in the dark.  Plus, I was hungry & having people's food in my car smelling all delicious was not helping at all!

Saturday
Nash & I got up with the sun, ate some breakfast, drank some coffee, & then headed to the dog park.  The one that's farther, but he likes.  I was hoping to to get some lunch time DoorDash hours but they've been super stingy with releasing hours so I didn't wind up with any.  Instead I went grocery shopping, ate a slice of cake around 10 AM for a "coffee break," made my own version of the TikTok pasta (if you haven't seen it it's supposed to be just Feta, tomatoes, olive oil, & seasonings in the oven & then you mix in some pasta.)  I made mine with Brie, spinach, tomatoes, mushrooms, olive oil, & seasonings.  I also didn't add in any noodles.  I'm keeping it separate so I can also use it as a dip.  I also did a little work in my "Self-Love Workbook for Women" workbook.  I did DoorDash again for a few more hours & then went home to hang out with Nash, eat some supper, & go to bed early.

Sunday
Nash & I went back to the dog park for awhile in the morning & then I tackled my to do list.  I did 3 loads of laundry, some dishes, & prepped some stuff for breakfast as well as lunch.  I was scheduled to Dash from 4:30-7:30 but chose not to go out so I could just relax & enjoy the last little bit of my weekend.  I watched a few more episodes of Heartland & then set up my goals for March!

I hope that you have a great Monday, new week, & new month!

Monday Morning Coffee *6/1*

It's June!  And if I'm being honest, with how the last few months have unfolded I don't know how I feel about that.  June for me has a couple of big things, surgery & a photo shoot, but mostly a lot of DoorDash.

Friday
Friday I was in a mood.  Like a should have just never left the house mood.  Everything going on in Minneapolis was the biggest part of it.  I then also found out that despite being one of the very first people to volunteer, I did not get a summer school position.  I had scheduled myself to do DoorDash already that day but really didn't want to.  However, because Monday had been Memorial Day I had decided not to go & then Tuesday it was so slow I made $0 so I ultimately decided to go out.  In the end it was a waste.  It was a mixture of slow & low offers.  For the record, as a general rule, at least in the Houston area, DoorDash has a base pay of $3 & then the rest is tip.  95% of drivers will not pick up your order if it equals out to less than $1/mile.  So between the low offers & my bad mood, I decided to call it quits about an hour into the shift so I could go run errands & just be home.

Saturday
Saturday we took P to go see our friends that used to live in the same apartment complex as we did.  It had been over a month since we had seen them & P and their daughter hadn't seen each other since before Covid.  Actually, I'm pretty sure they hadn't seen each other since before they moved back in November.  The girls had a blast running around & tiring themselves out.

Sunday
Sunday was a lazy day.  We didn't even meal prep.  In the morning I took P to get donuts before she went back to her mom's & then Danny & I just watched movies most of the day.  Well he did bathe the dogs while I did a couple loads of laundry.  Other than that though it was a movie day.  We re-started & finally finished Avengers: Age of Ultron and then watched Ant-Man (finishing the 2nd phase of the Marvel movies) & Four Brothers because Danny had never seen it & somehow it had come up the night before.

Monday Morning Coffee *5/18*

Happy Monday everyone!  Last week was such a blur for me that I didn't even get a Friday Favorites post up like I had intended to.  This past weekend though was excellent.  The weather turned out to be really nice & it was the perfect combo of fun, productive, & relaxing.

Last Week
Last week I did my first full week of DoorDash.  A couple of the days were slightly frustrating, due to restaurants not customers, but overall it was good.  I got to deliver to an over 2 mil dollar home.  I was awestruck driving through the security guarded neighborhood.

I also got my first DD paycheck so part of it went into savings & part of it went onto a credit card.  At the time that was my plan.  Every Tuesday 20% would go into savings & the other 80% would go on my credit card, or lowest debt.  However, on Thursday I had to have a virtual consultation with a surgeon because my "liver" issue has been solved.  Apparently I have little polyps on my gallbladder & at least one possible gallstone.  So, on June 8th that bad boy is coming out!  Luckily it's just an outpatient procedure & I can pretty much return to life as normal instantly.  I mean I can't drive myself home & I can't do anything super strenuous for 4-6 weeks, but I can eat/drink like normal & do light exercise.  So now I'll be saving the next 3-4 DD checks to go towards that because I have mediocre insurance at best so not only did I already have to pay $200 out of pocket for my 15 minute video consultation, I owe $800ish 2 days before my surgery... But at least I know what the problem is & it's a simple fix.

I also made carrot cake cupcakes last week because we had/have a shit ton of carrots.  I don't even really like carrot cake so I couldn't even tell you if they were good or not because I sent them to work with Danny.  According to him everyone at work loved them so I'll take his word for it.

Friday
Friday was chill.  We stayed at home, finished watching Guardians of the Galaxy, & ordered Dominos.  A girl I follow on Instagram had posted about how she had just discovered Topo Chico.  I LOVE Topo Chico but it got me wanting to make some different cocktails with it.  Friday night I made "Ranch Water" since I had been wanting to try it for well over a year but just never thought about it.  Honestly, didn't love it.  Mostly because I'm not a huge tequila person & all it is is Topo Chico, tequila, & lime juice.

Saturday
Saturday we picked up Presley in the morning & went down to Danny's mom's for the day since we couldn't last weekend for Mother's Day because he had been on call.  It was SO weird driving there because even driving THROUGH Houston at like 10 am on a Saturday there was NO traffic.  I have never seen it so dead.  It's kind of hard to tell but there was a lizard trying to catch a ride.  He held on for quite awhile!  We had a little mini spa day where we painted our nails, bejeweled our hair & clothes, & then put some temporary blue dye in Presley's hair.  She already had pink tips & a couple of months ago had a full head of pink hair so now she has blue & pink streaked hair.  She got to ride her bike around for a bit & play with slime & then we had some steaks for supper before heading back home.

That night Danny & I just sat in the driveway listening to music & drinking since we couldn't go anywhere.  I made a couple more Topo Chico cocktails.  One with grapefruit vodka & another with watermelon vodka.  The watermelon vodka one was hands down my favorite.  It tasted exactly like watermelon laffy taffy.  So much so that I almost ran out to buy some the next day because I was suddenly craving it.

Sunday
Sunday was the productive day.  I got all of the laundry done & vacuumed while Danny picked up the bedroom, cleaned the bathroom, & bathed the dogs.  Nash HATES baths.  The upside for bath time is that afterwards I get all of the cuddles because Danny is the one that does it.  I also tried one last cocktail with Topo Chico.  I did one with a pomegranate liquor.  It was really refreshing & my second favorite of the different concoctions.  Once all of the cleaning was done we settled in & started watching Avengers: Age of Ultron but Danny passed out SUPER early.  I half ass finished it while getting all of my grades up to date & then watched Roped & a Jerry Seinfeld comedy special on Netflix.  I was still wide awake but it was around 10:30 at that time so I put on some That 70s Show so I could half ass watch that while trying to fall asleep.

Monday Morning Coffee *5/11*

Happy Monday y'all!  I hope that everyone was able to enjoy Mother's Day yesterday, even though I'm sure it looked different for a lot of people this year.  Having not lived in the same state as my mom on Mother's Day for nearly a decade now mine really didn't look all that different.  As always, I called her in the morning to wish her a happy Mother's Day, talked to her for a little bit, & then we went on with our days.

Friday
Friday morning I had an appointment to get an ultrasound done on my abdomen so they could see what, if anything, is up with my liver/kidneys since I've been having a weird dull pain.  I won't know the results of that until at least tomorrow, possibly not until Thursday.  Fingers crossed it's nothing too serious.  On the bright side I asked the doctor if she could look at my ovaries while she was there just to see if she could see anything & she said that she couldn't tell if there was anything like endometriosis, which is what I was wondering, but there were no cysts that she could see.  I have my annual woman physical next Monday where I'll really talk to her about all of that stuff.

After the doctor I called my mom to let her know what I knew, which was essentially nothing, & then decided I liked Steph's idea of OPC (other people's coffee) & went through a drive thru for a coffee shop I had never been to before on my way home.  OPC & working on a 101 in 1001 goal for the win!  By the time I got home I didn't really have time to go to the park before my DoorDash shift so I just ate breakfast really quick & then headed out for a couple of hours.

When I got home I decided I wanted to take Nash to the dog park since another one of my goals is to start taking him at least once a month so that he stops being so anti-social in public.  He wasn't too sure about the first few dogs he met, & mostly stuck by my side or met all the people, but then he met another dog who was also unsure of the other dogs & they hit it off.  Unfortunately it started to rain so we didn't get a ton of time there before heading back home.

Saturday
Saturday morning when I woke up I got an alert on my DoorDash app so I opened it & it said that an area nearby was "very busy."  When I signed up I really only had plans of doing it Monday-Friday during lunch, but Danny saw it & wanted out of the house so he said, "LET'S GO MAKE SOME MONEY!"  So we did.  We did it from about 9-1:30 before heading home.  There was a bonus $2 for each delivery from 4-9 so we went back out for that.  At 5:30 though a friend said that they had bought a sack of crawfish & got one free so he asked if we wanted to go help eat some so we went to go do that instead because crawfish >> one $8 order in 1.5 hours...

Sunday
We had been up crazy late Saturday, like I don't think we went to bed until between 1-2 & I slept like shit.  According to my Fitbit I got 4 hours... so I woke up, drove to the donut shop & got us a couple of kolaches to share, called my mama for Mother's Day, & then went back to bed for awhile while Danny started prepping some food.  Around 12-1 I finally got back out of bed, made some coffee, & then hung out outside with Nash & Danny for a bit.  Our neighbors were outside, & while we always wave to them, we never actually talk to them.  They don't really speak English, & we don't really speak Spanish.  But they were outside grilling & we were outside smoking some corn on the cob & pork so we somehow wound up over there.  Now I *really* want to learn Spanish.  We spent a couple of hours over there eating & talking, mostly through the help of the poor little 9 year old girl who played translator for us & her grandpa.  Later on the mom & some other relatives showed up who could also speak a little English.  But now even more so I want to learn Spanish.  I mean I should have started 8 years ago when I started teaching in Texas but it is what it is....

Danny was on call for work & there is almost never actually a call that comes in.  They are on call Monday-Sunday & we even chose not to go down to his mom's on Saturday for Mother's Day because on Friday he was told there was a really good chance that in the afternoon he'd be getting a call for a shipment.  The call never came.  It wasn't until 8-830 Sunday night that he got called in... and wound up not getting home until nearly 1 am...  He was not happy... So as I finish up this post at 8:30 on Monday morning, he is sleeping in bed because he took today off.  Some Sunday afternoon he always says he's taking Monday off, & never does because adulthood, but having to be at work until 12:30 this morning he chose to use a day & stay home rather than have to wake up at 6:30 & go back to work.

Monday Morning Coffee *5/4*

Friday
Friday was Danny's birthday.  Because Corona we couldn't really do much but he wound up working an extra 2 hours at work anyway because they were so busy.  Yay for overtime pay on your birthday!  During the day I went to the park to get my steps in & then went home to bake Danny a cheesecake.  I also finished up my 3rd real estate course & got the exam scheduled (for 9:30 this morning).  That night we had some grilled chicken & sat around a bonfire.

Saturday
Saturday I got a little stir crazy so we went for a drive.  Then we just spent the day hanging out, drinking, & grilling.  It was so nice out!  Being out in the sun all day had us tired early though.  Danny fell asleep somewhere around 7 & I wasn't too far behind somewhere between 8 & 9.

Sunday
I have no pictures from Sunday but it wasn't terribly picture worthy.  One of Danny's birthday presents that I got him was the 2nd phase of the Marvel collection.  I got him the first phase either for Valentine's Day or our 6 month anniversary.  I don't really remember but they're both in February so around then.  We finished that last weekend so on Sunday we started the 2nd phase.  We got through Iron Man 3 & Thor: The Dark World.  After that we took a break & Danny prepped some omelettes for breakfast for the week.  His dad put some chicken, ribs, & sausage on the smoker so we had that for supper.  We started Captain America: Winter Soldier but this time it was my turn to fall asleep first.  I fell asleep about halfway through the movie sometime before 9.

Monday Morning Coffee *4/27*

Happy last Monday in April everyone!  While not quite March slowness, April has still been a slow one.  Particularly the first half.  I remember looking at the calendar 2 weeks ago thinking it should already be the end of the month!  But, here we are!  By the end of this week we'll be onto a new month!

Friday
Friday Nash finally got his talons trimmed.  For being so brave he got himself a cow cookie afterwards.  He was so exhausted from the whole event that he pretty much laid around by himself for the rest of the day.  It made me realize that I need to get him out more.  He's only had his nails trimmed once or twice before, because he's never really needed it due to living in apartments & going for walks on concrete, but he usually had no problem with it.  He tried putting on the brakes to even go back with the person to get them done & mostly hid by me or tried to stand by the door while we waited.  But now that we have a fenced in backyard, & another dog in the house, we don't really go to the dog park to socialize anymore & it's starting to show.

Saturday
Saturday Danny & I had a lazy day.  We watched a couple more of the Marvel movies in Phase 1 & made homemade pita chips & hummus.  That night we listened to the virtual Luke Combs concert in the car & drove around while Danny showed me more places from where he grew up.

Sunday
I woke up with the worst UTI I've ever had.  I used to get them all the time but haven't had one in years.  Thank God for teledoctors because I got a prescription in no time.  After getting it filled we watched Captain America & then I watched Danny prep breakfasts for the week & make supper.  We started the first Avengers movie but both fell asleep before it ended.

Monday Morning Coffee *4/20*

Happy Monday everyone!  I'm hoping that this week is better than last week.  Last week I definitely backslid as far as goals & whatnot.  Last week I don't think I put "real" clothes on once & I definitely didn't get my steps or water in everyday.  I still got a lot done but not much that was actually for me.  Luckily today I don't have any meetings until 1 so I have all morning to take care of myself!

Friday
Last week was particularly exhausting & Friday was no exception.  After getting quite a few things accomplished, including sending out emails to 97 students & their guardians for having yet to do their work, I wound up lighting a candle, putting on some meditation music, & just laying in the dark with Nash for 45 minutes.  It was exactly what I needed.  That night for supper we decided to do "bar food" since we can't actually go to the bar.

Saturday
On Saturday we had Danny's daughter & since we hadn't seen her on Easter, we did our own little Easter egg hunt & played with what the Easter bunny had brought her.  She also showed off her rollerskating skills before the rain hit & then we ate some pizza & watched the new Aladdin movie again.

Sunday
Sunday was stormy & the dogs were not having it.  I made cinnamon rolls for breakfast & then we finished the Hunger Games series.  Danny fell asleep super early so I got work done in the other bedroom & watched some All American on Netflix until I was also ready to go to bed.
