Stitch Fix #4

You can see my previous fixes here, here, & here.  I got my first fix over a year & a half ago... I'm still taking poorly lit mirror selfies...  This time around they are particularly bad... I actually got this box back in June.  That's how behind on blogging I am.  And by behind I actually just mean I was too lazy to take pictures of myself in the clothes.  Even this time around when I took them it was a "oh snap Nash is napping & I got this box almost 2 months ago so I should go quickly take pictures.

My last fix had been back in February because they offered to wave my fee.  That's exactly why I decided to do it again a 4th time.  Yes, I had kept all of the clothes in my 3rd one, but if they're going to randomly waive my fee then of course I'm going to wait around for that.

I swear they all look better in person ha.  The only one I wasn't super in love with was the last one.  It's cute & I'm sure I'll wear it from time to time.  It was cheaper to keep it & get the 25% discount than it would have been to just keep the other 4 items though which is why I ultimately kept it.  I'm obsessed with the shorts.  Up until volleyball started I was wearing them all the time.  I wore the maxi skirt to my orientation & the other skirt to my first day of new teacher training.

I moved into my new apartment over the weekend & was so excited to see that I had the Fierce VoxBox waiting for me in my mail box.  So of course like any good procrastinator I decided to put off unpacking & open up the box to see what was in store for me.

Inside waiting for me to test was SheaMoisture Aragan Oil & Almond Milk Blow Out Cream, SheaMoisture Aragan Oil & Almond Milk Shampoo, Sinful Colors Kandee Johnson Nail Polish, Madam C.J. WAlker Softening & Silkening Brassica Seed Oil, Vaseline Jelly, & Carefree Acti-Fresh Regular Liners.

First up was the nail polish because what better way to kill even more time than to paint your nails.  I love Sinful Colors nail polish to begin with.  I love it because it actually lasts & is good quality but is only like $2-$3.  I already own a decent amount of colors by this brand so I was excited to see I got a color that I didn't already own.  The color is Blueberry Hot Rod.  As I type this up on Wednesday night, it still hasn't chipped by the way & my nails chips all the time

Next up the Brassica Seed Oil.  I'm going to be completely honest in that I had no idea what to do with this.  Quite frankly I still don't know if I'm using it "right."  It says it's "a light weight hair oil that smooths and provides brilliant shine for heat-styled hair."  Well guess what...I don't do anything to my hair.  I wash it & let it dry naturally.  However, it does smell amazing.  It says it's a blend of spun sugar & red velvet cream.  So, I've been putting a little bit in my hair towards the ends before I go to work & then my hair smells awesome.

Again, I was like "hmm vaseline...what to do with that??"  Chapstick.  I have been using it on my lips.  Every. Single. Day.  And it's awesome.  I'm addicted to chapstick.  I also lose or leave tubes random places like no tomorrow.  You know what I don't lose?  This.  I throw it in my bag before I go to work, set it on my desk during the day, & then throw it back in my bag to bring home with me.  It works so well.  If y'all use it for something else please enlighten me.  I did let a kid use it for flyaways after they had their hair braided...

I haven't tried the blow out cream or shampoo yet because quite frankly my shower just got fixed so I was washing my hair in the sink up until a day ago & I just wasn't in the mood to deal.  I haven't used the liners yet either because while it's on it's way (sorry for everyone that's been dealing with my emotional mood swings) it hasn't hit yet so no need

Stitch Fix #3

Clearly by the heading I have tried Stitch Fix twice before.  Honestly, I wasn't impressed.  I only decided to give them a third chance because I got an email saying that they were waving the $20 styling fee so I figured this time I had nothing to lose.  You can read about my first fix here where I kept nothing & my second fix here where I kept one thing.  Before I get on with my third fix... I need to just get it out there that when I say you can read about my "fix" it makes me think of a junkie... ok moving on now...

Rather than bore you all with my thoughts on individual pieces I'll give you the short of it.  I KEPT IT ALL!  I was actually super in love with this whole box.  My stylist this time nailed it.  Before ordering this one I made sure to make sure my style profile was up to date & I had been pinning clothes to my Pinterest board that's attached to my account.  Because I loved & kept all of it I got the 25% discount which is the only way I could really justify the price.  $178 for 4 tops & a pair of earrings is not that bad at all.  Especially when I can wear all of that to work & just out an about. (With the except of MAYBE that last shirt.)  So I guess third time is the charm.  However, despite loving the box it'll still be awhile before I order another one because I rarely buy clothes as it is & mama ain't made of money.  OH!  AND I still clearly need a photographer or a better mirror & better lighting.  So if I ever get another one & someone wants to humor me by taking all the pictures of me I'd love them forever...just sayin...

Stitch Fix #2

My 2nd Stitch Fix box was scheduled to arrive Thursday, it arrived Friday.  In the end it wasn't the end of the world because I didn't have so much going on over the weekend where I couldn't take time to look at everything, try it on, & decided what I wanted & didn't want.  I knew before I even opened the box (I cheated & went to checkout on the day it was supposed to arrive) that there would be two items I wouldn't be keeping.  I had also decided that it would be at least 6 months before I did another one, if I ever decided to do another one.  I love the concept of it, I love new clothes, but I haven't loved enough of the stuff (you can see my first review here) to justify doing them frequently, or the prices of the items.

With my last Stitch Fix I realized I needed a full length mirror.  There are 2 at my parents house (& if I ever fully move out...aka to somewhere more permanent...I'll take the one that's in my bedroom.)  What I learned with this Stitch Fix is that I need a photographer lol.  Since I don't have one, self-taken cell phone photos in poor lighting will have to do.

1. Collective Concepts Lurline Racerback Top $44

I pretty much assumed I'd be keeping this one before I even opened the box.  Racerbacks are my thing.  That's what the majority of my tops are.  Plus, it's summer.  I loved the way it fell & that it was simple enough that I could wear it either as a casual outfit or that I could dress it up to look nicer.  KEPT

Dex Crocus Cutout Shoulder Detail Blouse $48

This was the one thing I was able to find online when I tried using Google to see what they had sent me at checkout.  I said that unless it looked better in person, or on me, I wasn't going to keep it.  I just didn't like the way it fit me.  I also wasn't crazy about the pattern.  I wasn't even aware that the back opened until I was taking that picture. RETURNED

Market & Spruce Kellie Open Front Drape Cardigan $68

This was one of the items I knew I wouldn't be keeping before I even saw it.  First of all, like I mentioned with my first fix, I don't ever wear cardigans.  Second of all, it's June, it's 90 degrees out.  If I were to be buying a cardigan it's not going to be in the summer.  I will say that I loved how it fit.  I wasn't crazy about how it looked on me though & again, I have no need for a cardigan in the summer.  The way it fit though did make me want to reconsider cardigans for when I go back to work in the fall (as long as it's still as a teacher) RETURNED

Pixley Jacelyn Off Shoulder Dress $74

There was a part of me that wanted to love this because I love dresses in the summer & I'm obsessed with the whole off the shoulder look right now.  Another part of me was praying I didn't fall in love with it because of the price tag.  I have never, & will never, spend $75 on a casual summer dress.  Luckily? I hated the way I looked in it.  It didn't fall right & the colors did nothing for me.  RETURNED

Urban Expressions Adelade Woven Fold-Over Clutch $48

This was the other item I knew I wouldn't be keeping before I even opened the box.  I have 3 purses.  9 times out of 10 I'm using just one of those or not even using a purse & just carrying my wallet.  It should be noted that in the picture it looks brown but it is in fact gray.  RETURNED

So here's where I'm at with Stitch Fix.  I've kept 1 out of 10 items sent to me so far.  There is a part of me that wants to give it another shot in say December (then I'm doing them once every 6 months.)  There's another part of me that says why?  The items are more than I would usually consider spending on my own when shopping, & I've only loved 1 of the items enough to keep it/justify the price.  I guess we'll see when December rolls around if I want to do another one or not.

Biscoff Cookies: So I didn't actually try these because I'm doing Whole30 & those definitely aren't approved.  Maybe I'll give them a shot in February.

Cetaphil Lotion: I put this on one day after getting out of the shower.  My skin has been super dry because winter...  it worked.  I don't think it necessarily worked any worse or any better than other brands that I've tried in the past but it did work.  The consistency was more like cocoa butter than regular lotion.

Pure Ice Nail Polish: I actually already owned this exact same polish.  That turned out to be a good thing since I've been on a powder dip manicure kick & therefore didn't put this on.  However, since I already own it I can say that I absolutely love the color.

Kiss Eyelashes: I was a piss poor influenster with this box.  I still haven't tried these either.  There's a fairly good chance I never will either.  As a girl who hardly ever even wears make-up, fake eye lashes are intimidating.  Maybe someday when I have nowhere to go, or have a long time to get ready, I'll play around with them...

Itty Bitty Snowman: One of my basketball girls is obsessed with Frozen so I gave her the Olaf/snowman Itty Bitty.

Stitch Fix

This Stitch Fix box taught me that I absolutely need to buy a new full length mirror.  I had a cheap, crappy one when I lived in Houston but when it broke I never replaced it.  Life is easier with a full length mirror.  Onto the products...

1. Kut From The Kloth Cai Bootcut Jean $88 I loved the way the pants fit.  Before I put them on I told myself that if they made my butt look cute I'd buy them.  The price tag was $88 which isn't really outrageous for jeans anymore but I've been so spoiled with getting expensive jeans for way low cost in the past so I wasn't quite ready to pull the $88 trigger when they did absolutely nothing for my rear.  I was actually a little sad because I loved the way they fit everywhere else. RETURN

2. Skies are Blue Brilla Open Cardigan $58 I put this sweater on knowing full well I wasn't going to keep it.  I love the way those sweaters look but I never wear them.  They just aren't my thing.  I'll throw on an actual sweater long before I put on an open sweater.  I really don't know why, I just don't wear them.  I knew even though I thought it was cute that I would never grab it out of my closet. RETURN

3. Romolo Munroe Feather Pendant Necklace $28 I really liked the idea of this necklace.  I thought it was super cute & had it been shorter I would have kept it.  However, the highest it would go was right in the middle of my chest & for $28 I just couldn't justify it unless I was 100% happy with it. RETURN

4. Papermoon Pinon Lace Detail Blouse $48 This was the piece that I came the closest to keeping.  I loved the color.  I loved the way it fit.  I loved the way it looked.  But then I went to take it off & it was just a little too tight across part of the top so it was a slight struggle to get it off.  I didn't want to have to struggle each time I tried to take it off, especially because it's not a giving fabric so I was afraid if I tried too quickly or too much one time I might rip it.  RETURN

5. RD Style V-Neck Pullover Sweater $78 I actually really loved this piece too but I had to be honest with myself.  I have sweaters already in my closet that I love but never wear.  If I were still up north I probably would have bought it.  Or even if I had gotten it as a Stitch Fix to keep it in MN.  But in Texas I never wear sweaters.  Even full length long sleeve shirts is rare.  Don't get me wrong, it gets cold in north TX, but I still never really wear them down here.  If I had a classroom that was ever cold I would but I get to control the temperature in my room & 70 is the absolute bottom that I drop it too.  Plus, it was $78 & that was just too high of a price for something I can randomly wear just a couple of months out of the year.  RETURN

I think another big problem with this box & my not keeping anything was that I felt rushed.  It arrived on December 30th after I had already left my place.  I didn't really go home again until the day it was due Jan 2.  So I tried everything on that morning & had to rush out the door in order to make it to my game & the post office.  It was poor planning on my part.  I really thought that week I would have been home a lot more than I was & therefore would have had more time to really look at things.  With such little time to really look at the pieces & feel them out I didn't feel comfortable dropping that much money on some of the items.
