Baby Bro Comes To Town

Happy Monday!!  Linking up with Biana!  I hope everyone had a fantastic weekend!  This past weekend my baby bro came to visit me.  Today we're off on day one of our road trip back to Minnesota.  Because of said trip, I don't know how much I'll actually be around this week, both with posting & commenting.  I'm just sort of going to take it as it comes.  If I don't get a chance to comment/respond a whole lot, I promise I'll do my best to catch up when I get back to MN towards the end of the week.  And now on with it!

This is going to be fairly brief because I'm typing this at 10:30 PM on Sunday & my alarm is set to go off at 5:30 AM so I can finish packing things up & we can be on our way!

Friday
Friday I had my first taste of "holy shit I'm bored" & I felt so guilty feeling that way because it had only been my first week of summer break.  However, in my defense, when you go from being around people ALL the time, & then being alone most of the time for a week when everyone else is gone or busy, boredom can set in really quick when you don't even really have anyone to talk to but your dog.

I tried taking Nash to the dog park by my place but we officially need to find a new one.  He no longer enjoys being there.  I used to have to trick him into leaving & now he spends most of his time hiding by me or sitting by the gate waiting to go.  A month or so a dog came at him there & he hasn't really enjoyed that park since, even if that dog isn't there.

At 5 that night my baby brother finally got into town.  I picked him up from the airport & then we briefly went back to my apartment to drop his stuff & Nash off so we could go find food.  We went to the bar near me for a couple of drinks & then we to Fuel City to get some tacos & elotes.  At the gas station they also have some animals out back... Texas is something else I tell ya.  When we got back home we watched some stand up comedy on Netflix.  Nash had already put himself to bed but when I grabbed my very silent corn, all of a sudden he was on my lap...  That dog I tell ya ha.

Saturday
Saturday morning we got some breakfast at a Mexican place by me so Scott could get some Huevos Rancheros.  I got french toast...  We went down to the Stockyards afterwards to watch the cattle drive that they do.  We stopped at a couple of bars down there, including my favorite/the one they filmed Walker Texas Ranger at sometimes, and hit up the candy store & a fruit stand down there as well.  We headed back to my apartment to drop our candy & fruit off before heading out to Legal Draft Brewing for some beers.  We were going to go to a couple of different ones but it was so hot out, & we were so hungry from not really having eaten since breakfast that morning that we just had our 3 beers there, & some cheese fries from a nearby bar to hold us over until we got BBQ for supper that night.  We watched some more stand up comedy on Netflix before calling it a night.

Sunday
Sunday was a very low key day, which turned out to be a good thing, but it wasn't what we planned on.  Originally we were going to go hiking with Nash up in Denton & then get some crawfish while we were up there as well, get a few things done at my place, & then go get some shrimp & grits in Deep Ellum for supper that night.  None of that happened.  It was hot as hell, we were both fairly tired from running around so much the day before, & decided to save some of our money for our trip home.  So instead we turned out leftover BBQ into breakfast, watched some Netflix, got lunch at a bar kind of by me, got some stuff done at my place/ready for the trip, grilled hot dogs at my apartment, & called it good.

And just so y'all don't think Pickles has disappeared... even though we haven't seen each other since last Sunday, we have talked everyday & he called me on his way home from helping his grandpa move over the weekend.  I am so excited to go on a road trip with my brother, be home, & see friends and family while I'm back in MN, but I also really can't wait until I'm back in TX at the beginning of July so that I can see Pickles again.  It will pretty much be an entire month that we will have gone without seeing each other by the time I'm back.  At least we'll both be busy so that should help the time go by...

  4. What part of DFW are you around? I've been to three different dog parks around the metroplex and they've all been really good. Safe travels!

  6. I can totally relate to the dog not enjoying the dog park thing anymore. My dog was attacked in one a few years ago and just hasn't been the same ever since. And girl--don't feel guilty for being bored! Any time you go from 60 to 0 all of a sudden, you're bound to be left a little bored.

    1. Thankfully I'm finally getting back in stride with my freedom lol. I feel so bad for Nash because I want him to be able to run around & play with other dogs, but he's just not having it.
