The First Full Week In July

I feel like I'm becoming a shitty blogger again.  Partly because it's summer & I'm feeling lazy.  Partly because I have so much to do that I'm not doing any of it.  And then partly because I feel like I can't take my eyes of Nash for more than a couple of minutes.  In fact this post almost didn't happen.  It's 10 am, Nash is finally napping, we've been up for 3 hours & I have yet to have my breakfast or my coffee...
Linking up with Amanda.

What I Was Up To
Monday was the second day in a row I sat on my carpet & briefly cried.  I was feeling held hostage by my adorable little Nash.  I was feeling guilty for having left Nash with other people for a week after having him for just 36 hours so I basically wasn't leaving the house so I could spend time with Nash.  I left the house just once to briefly get groceries & another time to attempt to donate blood.  My iron was 0.1 too low.  So because I was out already & Laura had posted a picture on Instagram that left me craving McDonald's sweet tea so I made a McDonald's stop.

Tuesday Helen & Caleb took pity on me & invited Nash & I over for the 4th.

In true American fashion we had Cuban sandwiches for supper.  Except Helen put an American twist on it & named it the Miami.

I brought red, white, & blue cupcakes but it was so hot out that the frosting melted off the tops.  Turns out sometimes these colors do run.  Then Steve came over & made French Toast for dessert.  I'm not sure if it's the most American 4th of July I've ever had or the least American.  Nash & I got back home just in time to see the fireworks at the park right behind my apartment.

Wednesday we were lazy.  Apparently terrorizing Helen & Caleb's cat and dog took a lot out of little Nash.  We went for a couple of walks but mostly Nash slept.  I got an Influenster Voxbox & my latest StitchFix in the mail so it was a pretty great mail day.  I'll do a review of them later on!

Thursday I was supposed to have a date but I cancelled it.  The guy & I had started talking while I was in Minnesota.  Except that we didn't really talk.  He's the one who suggested we go on a date but we would only talk if I started it & even then it was not a whole lot.  In 2 weeks I learned that he was originally from Iowa & had briefly lived in Minnesota.  In the 5 days leading up to our supposed to be date we had talked 3 times.  Once to decide a day, once to decide a place, & another to decide a time.  We didn't talk at all the day of the date other than when I cancelled it a few hours before.  Instead I met up with my friend who is in town from Colorado for work for supper.  I brought Nash along & he got to experience his very first dog friendly restaurant, Lazy Dog.  Of course everybody loved him.  I normally put Nash to bed around 9 & then go to bed an hour later but I was so tired we both went to bed at 9.

On The Blog
On Monday I did a big recap of my weekend & my week in Minnesota.

I skipped Tuesday because Independence Day.  I was going to do a little post for it but decided to just skip it instead.

On Wednesday I linked up with Anne & Stephanie for a round of Currently.

On Thursday I shared how I've been doing so far on my summer goals.

  2. 1. It's too hot to do anything.
    2. When I'm overwhelmed, I get incapacitated, too. It's going to be okay. Make small lists and try and do a little every day.
    3. Puppies are tough. That's absolutely true. Give yourself grace. You're doing a good job.

  5. Puppies are like kids and take up so much time so enjoy all the puppy snuggles. I'm sure potty training has been fun! j/k He's too cute. Love that your friends served "Miami" sandwiches for the 4th of July...they look yummy!

  6. Oh pup, sounds like a handful right now but I'm sure he'll grow up and mature soon enough :) Or at least hopefully before the school year starts?

  7. Alone time training is good for both of you! For your sanity and to prep Nash for when school is back in session. Puppy life is hard, it makes me grateful that my dogs were "older" when I got them.

  8. I'm not even kidding I've been craving a Big Mac for about 2 weeks now! I just haven't been near a Mickey D's lately! So awesome that you had fireworks right in your backyard. Luckily my friend had a view of them too so she threw a party. We all crammed onto her tiny balcony to watch! Good luck with Nash- he's adorable!

  9. "Turns out sometimes these colors do run" made me LOL. Ugh, I feel like a shitty blogger too because I never feel like writing anything other than my usual link-up related posts!
