Fall Makes Me Happy

Friday
In an attempt to get back into somewhat of a routine I had my alarm set for 8 am.  By 7 apparently I'd had enough sleep because I was wide awake.  I wasn't ready to get out of bed though so instead I played around on my phone until my alarm went off.  I made breakfast, read blogs, responded to comments, created my to do list for the weekend, & set up a place to track my September spending.  At noon I met up with my friend Dulce for lunch at TCU since she was was working on campus & didn't have a super long lunch break.  After lunch I went to go fill out & turn in an application for a steakhouse that I am hoping to get hired at.  Really I'm just hoping to get a job anywhere where I make more than I am currently.  That one is in the location that I would like to move to ASAP though which is nice.  I had so many plans of being productive since I didn't have to work.  However, construction on 35 had different plans.  It was a little after 4 by the time I got home again.  Because it was way later than I had expected, I pretty much said screw it & did nothing productive the rest of the day.  I read more of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland as well as watched Let's Go To Prison & August: Osage County, both for the Fall Film Challenge.

Saturday
I knew I wouldn't get a ton accomplished Saturday simply because I had to work that night & therefore wanted to relax as much as possible during the day.  I went to the library to pick up The Oath which I had on hold for me & had finally come in. I read more of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland/Through the Looking Glass & watched Take This Waltz for the Fall Film Challenge.  I got the paperwork printed off & mailed out to get one of my student loans deferred.  Hopefully I will hear back from them soon saying that it can either be deferred or the payment lowered because then I will have all of my student loans taken care of for now.

Work was, weird.  I had 3 big parties who were all really nice, but then I also had a couple of random tables who weren't necessarily rude but, well they tipped like shit.  The night was weird for everyone.  Both the kitchen & the bar got backed up which in turn meant that servers got screwed.  I had 2 different people (both from parties) that walked out without paying at all.  I had a couple of people not tip at all.  Based on my sales I should have walked out with more that I did.  On the bright side, I finally walked out with more than $100!  I got home around 3-330 in the morning, finished eating my crostinis with buffalo & ranch dipping sauce, & went to bed.

Sunday
I kept my alarm set for 8 but set a back up one for 9 seeing as how 8 would mean only 4-5 hours of sleep.  By 8:30 I was up.  I got dressed & made my way to HEB.  Goodbye Kroger.  I have missed HEB.  It's slightly farther away than Kroger but it's not ghetto, & it's HEB.  For the record, I have never felt so old/grown up/pathetic in my life as I did when I got to the store & was super excited about which flippin place I was going to get my groceries...  Even though one of my financial goals for the month was no spending other than what was allotted for food, fuel, & fun... I still got Starbucks.  Why?  Well because it finally felt like fall.  Also, because I spent way less on groceries than I thought I would so that was my justification.  I planned on doing all of my food prep when I got back but I just didn't feel like it.  Instead I sat down in front of the TV decked out in Vikings gear to watch the Packers game.  Both the Vikings & the Packers won.  One made me happy because they're my team, the other made me happy because of my fantasy team.  When the game was over I went downstairs to start food prep.  I only wound up making the Ale & Cheddar Soup so the Mac & Cheese and Cinnamon Crescent Rolls will have to be made today before work.  I painted my nails for the last time for real before they're done professionally for the wedding this next weekend.  The blue had chipped so bad that I had to.  They're basically the color that I want them to be for the wedding, so if nails wasn't a part of the wedding bonding experience, I would leave them as is.

  1. Wow, how common is it for people not to leave any tip at all? I think I've only done it once in my life because a waitress yelled at me when I was a teenager, ha ha.

  3. I can't believe those two people did not pay at all! I guess they expected the other people in their party to pick up the tab?

  4. I'd rather be not tipped than given a few pennies. I had that happen before and I stormed out the door and threw their pennies at their car as they drove off, my manager didn't really like that, but he was also pissed so he just told me not to do that again and I said, then don't ever seat me with them again (since they were semi-regulars who ALWAYS had fucked up food so they could get their meal for free, essentially). SOOO MUCH RAGE.

How did you feel about Take this Waltz?

  5. I cannot believe people walked out without paying. That is so crazy to me. I never not tip even if I have really bad service. I'm glad you made some money. I don't know how you do it. I could never be a waitress, just the attitude from people would make me crazy.
