Back In Minnesota

I'm on Thanksgiving break currently so I actually forgot it was Monday today until my alarm went off because I also forgot to turn that off.  Luckily, I was up before it anyway.  I spent most of this weekend making the drive between Texas & Minnesota but then also got in some family time.  I hope that everyone had a great weekend & that you have a wonderful week leading up to Thanksgiving!

Linking up with Biana!

Friday
Friday was both a short & a long day.  As far as work was concerned, it was definitely short.  Overall though, it was long.  My alarm went off at 5 am like always but I didn't have to leave until a little after 10 because I didn't have to teach until 11:40 thanks to pep rally schedule.  That mean I had 5 hours to get 2 workouts in, pack for Minnesota, get my car loaded up, run a couple of errands, & spend time with Nash-o.  Work also went by quickly because I only taught from 11:40-3:25.

I skipped softball so that I could get a head start on my drive to Kansas.  I thought that by leaving work at 3:30 I could make it to Wichita by 9:30.  6 hours for a 5-5.5 hour drive seemed reasonable.  Also, I really wanted to be able to get Blaze Pizza & they close at 10.  However, traffic SUCKED until I hit Oklahoma.  What should have taken me just over an hour took me almost 2.5 hours.  I didn't get settled into my hotel room until almost midnight.  Of course Nash thought that it was play time because he had spent the 7 hours napping.  He was severely mistaken.

Saturday
I only got about 4 hours of sleep so I got on the road later than I wanted to.  I planned on waking up around 5, feeding Nash, packing up the car, & going.  I left about 6:30 because I also kind of sat around & got some work done.

Overall the trip was fairly uneventful.  Kansas was gorgeous as it always is.  Whenever I'm in Kansas I always think to myself "I could totally live in Kansas!"  And I could.  I love Texas, I also love Minnesota.  I often struggle with which of the 2 I want to live in because one has been the only home I've known as an adult, & the other is where I spent the first 23 years of my life.  But then there's the flyover states.  The pretty states.  The compromise states.  Kansas, Missouri, even Oklahoma & Arkansas to a degree.  The states that get all 4 seasons but don't necessarily have the extreme heat or cold.  The states that are closer to Minnesota but not super far away from Texas.  #TheStruggle

Once I hit Iowa I hit snow.  It lasted about halfway through the state.  Luckily it only added about 45-60 minutes to my drive.  I still made it back to Minnesota at a decent time.  I was back at my parents' house before 6 pm.  My mom made my favorite soup for supper, chicken wild rice, which was nice because I had only had fast food the rest of the day.  Hardees & Dunkin Donuts for breakfast, Chick-Fil-A for lunch.

Sunday
Sunday morning was pretty much a hit the ground running scenario since my dad's side of the family came over for "Thanksgiving."  The morning started with coffee, taking Nash out, & then running a couple of errands.  Apparently the meme dog lives in my hometown lol.

Thanksgiving is my favorite meal of the year & this year I'm lucky enough to get two!  It was good to see almost all of my extended family on my dad's side, only 2 cousins were missing.  The Vikings also played that night but I didn't make it through the whole game because I was so exhausted.  I figured at 0-14 it was a good enough time to go to bed since we were clearly not in the game.  I woke up to see we had decided to show up but still not win at 20-25.

  4. One of my favorite college admissions reps is from and just moved back to South Dakota! I'll admit - my first thought was people live there? You NEVER heard about South Dakota? Why is that?? So many questions. Your drives always look beautiful... even if it takes a zillion years to get through Oklahoma.

  5. I don't know how you do these long drives, girl. Driving an hour feels way too long to me hahaha. Buuut you've also probably been driving for more than three years! ;)
