My First Weekend of Summer Vacation

As you read this I am on my way to Colorado with some friends.  We're taking a road trip from Dallas up to Denver.  With that being said, I probably won't be around a whole lot this week.  I do have posts scheduled for the week and will respond to comments when I can, but I probably won't sit down to read any posts until I return from my trip.  Linking up with Biana!

Friday
Friday was the official last day of my 5th year of teaching.  By noon it was all over.  My classroom was cleaned out, all the signatures on my sheet were signed, and I was out the door.  I went to Chuy's with a couple of co-workers for lunch.  I love that place so much.  Well really I mostly I love their creamy jalapeno dip.  After lunch I ran up to Fort Worth to pick up a graduation ticket for that night & then headed home in a downpour.  I took a little nap when I got home & then headed back out so I could attend the graduation for the school I taught at last year.  I am so proud of all of them.  I may or may not have gotten a little emotional.

Saturday
Saturday morning was rainy so since I decided that I needed to get some blogging done for this upcoming week, and I had no food in my fridge, I got on Yelp & found a coffee shop near me.  I wound up at Roots Coffeehouse.  Partly because it was close, mostly because I saw on their site that on the weekends they serve breakfast tacos from Taco Heads which is on my "to eat at" list.  I got the Lucky Irishman drink & a chorizo taco.  Both were excellent!  I hung out there for a couple of hours setting up some blog posts, catching up on blogs, & responding to comments.  I wish I could say that when I got home I was productive but that would be a lie.  I watched One Tree Hill until it was time to get ready to meet my friend in the Stockyards.

We met up at Star Cafe for supper, because if you've ready ANY of my other posts about being in the Stockyards that's where I make everybody eat.  And yes, I got a steak salad again with a ton of ranch.  I'm not even going to pretend that someday I'll try something else there.  We wandered up and down Exchange for a little bit until we decided to head into the rodeo.  One of my friend's friends is a bull fighter at the rodeo so we got in for free.  Score!  The rodeo was a good time as all rodeos are.  Not a single bull rider stayed on for the 8 seconds though so that was a bit of a disappointment.  We went to the Thirsty Armadillo for a bit after to hangout & people watch until it was getting late & we both had to get home.

Sunday
My plan?  Get up decently early, go get breakfast somewhere, take some photos around Fort Worth so I have pictures for my FoodFunFortWorth Instagram account while I'm in Colorado, buy socks for hiking, pack, & then head to Helen & Caleb's.  What happened?  Woke up at a decent time, made coffee, Instagrammed, blogged, decided to use images from around Fort Worth on my personal/blog Instagram from places I hadn't featured yet on my FFFW IG to save myself the time & headache of running around Fort Worth, emailed people on Match, didn't get dressed to go anywhere until a little after 11:30.  Go me!

When I did finally get my life together I went to Los Juanitos for some breakfast tacos.  I got 3 chorizo, egg, potato, & cheese tacos because I have an addiction.  I had never been to this place before but I liked it.  Although I really haven't met a chorizo taco yet that I haven't liked...  I got all 3 for $6.17 so it doesn't get much better than that either.  I drove to Target, sat in the parking lot so I could inhale my tacos, & then went in so I could buy a couple of more things for my trip.  (ie socks & razors.)  I then finally took a shower & packed all of my stuff before getting a little bit of work done for grad school & doing some more blogging/instagramming.  Eventually I left my apartment to go to Helen & Caleb's so I could spend the night there so we could get up & leave early for Denver.
