Spring Break Is So Close

I had such good intentions of writing this post last night.  I could have too but I decided to watch Shameless instead.  This is my last week of work before spring break & I could not be more excited.  I'm not so excited that the students will probably be off the wall nuts this week because there is a long break coming up, but after just 5 more days of work I have 9 days of freedom from work & grad school.  I am over the moon.  Linking up with Biana!  Happy Monday y'all!

Friday
After work on Friday I met my friend Emily at a nail salon so I could get a pedicure & she could get a manicure.  It's not the place that I normally go to but she had a gift card so that's where we went.  She had a gift card because they had messed up her nails.  It didn't even take an hour and my toes were messed up.  I will take partial responsibility in that I tried to change too soon after getting them done.  However, the place I normally go to this is never a problem.  In short, I won't go back.  I paid ever so slightly less than I normally do but the extra I paid is worth it because where I normally go they do more than just put some lotion on your legs, slap on some nail polish & call it a day.  The upside?  I got a free margarita while getting them done.  Oh well, lesson learned.  I got lime green because March.  I'll probably hit up Target some time in the next week to get a few Sinful Colors polishes (lime green, dark green, & gold) so that I can redo my own toes & do my own fingers.  My finger nails are so short & crappy right now that until I can get them to grow out a bit I'm not paying anyone to do them.

After nails we went to Abuelo's for supper.  We mostly just ate chips, salsa, & queso because that's what one does when they go out for Mexican.  I did get these cheese & jalapeno stuffed, bacon wrapped shrimp though & oh my goodness.  They were so good.  If I were more ambitious I would learn how to make them at home.  After chatting & eating for awhile we each headed home.  I don't remember exactly what time I wound up going to bed but it was fairly early.  I only really remember that because I was on the phone with my best friend & he asked why in the world I was in bed so early on a Friday night.

Saturday
I was actually productive during the day on Saturday!  Mostly because I had to be.  I spent a large portion of the day pretending to be productive while actually just dancing around my apartment.  Once I only had a few hours left before my friend Katherine was supposed to show up I started unpacking my living room for real.  I did make a Target & Home Depot run at one point so I could get stuff for the apartment.  My living room finally looks like a little home rather than a dumping ground for boxes & odds and end.  I'll be doing an apartment tour at the end of this month.  My closet & bedroom are still a disaster but that's just because I have clothes everywhere.  I still need to hang pictures up in my bedroom as well.

When Katherine showed up we had a little pre going out drink & then drove down to the Stockyards.  First we hit up Star Cafe for supper because I am obsessed with their steak salad & take literally everyone who will let me there.  After that we hit up The White Elephant Saloon, which is normally my favorite bar down there but it just wasn't that great that night.  We found a bar that had live music & no cover, Filthy McNastys (yes...that's the real name), so we hung out there for awhile.  Really we were just trying to kill time until 11:30 so we could go to Billy Bob's without paying a cover.  We showed up at Billy Bob's around 11:45 & they said that Tanya Tucker still had 15 more minutes left so we'd still have to pay the $16 to get in.  No thank you.  So I made a horse friend & we just hung out there until midnight & then went in.  We made some friends from Illinois & talked to them for awhile.  Then it was taco truck time so we headed outside.  While we were standing around there we somehow made friends with some guys from Indiana so we ate our tacos & then walked over to the closed petting zoo & just stood on a ledge looking at goats talking about cattle, crops, & at some point politics until 3:30 in the morning.  At that point it was time to head home & go to bed.  I couldn't tell you the last time I stayed up until 4 am.  It was a lot of fun though.

Sunday
Sunday was a la-zy day!  Around 11:30-noon we went to lunch at a place near my apartment called Crazy Cowboy.  I had never been there before but found it on Yelp & since it had good reviews, a cheap bloody mary, & was only a mile from my apartment I was sold.  The ranch was amazing, the burger was done great, & the bloody did the job.  The best part?  It was $10.  Granted, the bloody was on sale because it was Saturday & the burger was on sale because it was lunch, but still.  Normally it still would've only been $13.  I'll definitely be going back there.  Katherine & I parted ways from there.  I sat around in my sweats on the couch watching Shameless until like 4 or 5.  I was about to order groceries (which would've saved me money because oh my goodness I added so much unnecessary crap to my cart) but because my lazy self had waited so long I would've had to wait until like 8 pm to get my groceries.  Since I still had to meal prep that wasn't an option.  So off to the grocery store I went.  I picked up some new flowers for my apartment as well.  Because my dishwasher soap thing doesn't open, I watched more Shameless while hand washing a million dishes.  I didn't really do much meal prep for the week.  I hard boiled eggs for breakfasts, have stuff for grilled cheese & tomato soup for suppers, & then made loaded mashed potatoes for lunches.  My fridge is also on the fritz.  I turned it all the way up to the coldest temp, although it was pretty much there, & then also put in a work order.  It got colder but still not as cold as it should've been for how high it was set.  It sounded like it was about to freak out again this morning when I woke up.  Hopefully by the time I put in a stinking work order on every flippin appliance in my apartment I'll be able to function like a normal adult.  Because I had been up until 4 am the night before & laid around most of the day, I didn't go to bed until 10:30 & that was only because I made myself go to bed.  Waking up this morning was rough.
