Dear Future Husband

I have been serious about 4 guys in my life.

Military Man

Mr. Fireman

CJ

Oklahoma

Each of those men, along with those I've been less than serious about...and the ones that made me want to gag, have taught me what I want in a man.

The short, slightly dramatic answer is Oklahoma.  In truth he's pretty much exactly what I want in a man.  Unfortunately, due to reasons that are not mine to discuss, whether permanently or for now, that's not possible.  My letting go, or attempt to let go, along with being 2.5 months short of 27, have led me to reevaluate what it is I am looking for in a future husband.

2.5 years ago I created a list of what I wanted.  Some things change while some things stay the same.

I want someone who can make me laugh.
I want someone who will call me out on my bullshit.
I want someone who doesn't run when things get hard.
I want someone who understands hard work.
I want someone who wants/has kids.
I want someone who finds family to be one of the most important things in the world.
I want someone who believes in God whether they go to church or not.

I would like someone who loves country music at least nearly as much as I do.
I would like someone who is at least my height if not taller.
I would like someone who will help me fulfill me dream of owning all the cows.
I would like someone who would rather live in the country than the city.
I would like someone who understands basic grammar/spelling.

Drugs/excessive drinking are deal breakers.
Belittling others is a deal breaker.
Believing money is more important than time is a deal breaker.

  2. I agree with all of this. Finding a good man is so hard these days.

  3. I hate that you are having to let go.....it's always so hard. But you are right---we learn what we want/need through other relationships and you've clearly got a great list and will find a great guy!

  4. I get confused with the nicknames. LOL

Sorry you think you found your person in Oklahoma and have to let go.

  5. I'd be afraid to see my high standards if I made an actual list. Annnnddd if I made a list, I'd just want to hand it out to all these dudes I'm meeting online and be like, "Do you meet all of these criteria?" Yes? Please collect $200 and pass go. No? Go straight to jail, do not pass go, do not collect $200.

  6. I 100% believe that if you put your list of wants into the world that the universe will deliver. I swear, I did it (I didn't know I was doing it at the time, but I was) and it worked for me.
