Hello October

It's my birthday month!!  Happy Monday everyone!  I will be kicking off birthday month in the least exciting way: going to work & then a booster club meeting...  I hope everyone had a great last weekend in September & that October treats you well!  Linking up with Biana.

Friday
Every Friday different varsity football players get to pick a teacher to wear their jersey for the day.  This past Friday one of my seniors picked me.  There was also a free BBQ lunch for the social studies department courtesy of the math department.  It was really good!  Friday night was super lowkey.  I got home, considered going out to do something, but was so exhausted that once I got comfortable on the couch there was no leaving again.

Saturday
Saturday morning started with Nash-o & I just lounging around with some Netflix.  Eventually it was time to go to my first appointment to talk to someone about my stress/anxiety/all that jazz.  It went well & I actually really like her so we made an appointment for this coming weekend as well.  When I left there I headed to a coffee place nearby I had never been to because coffee, National Coffee Day, & gotta cross off those new places!  It was delicious!

I decided to jump in on the Fall Movie Challenge after reading Dani's post.  I had tried once before but since I haven't had a DVD player in quite awhile I never finished.  The theme this time around made it super easy to find 25 films on Netflix.  So when I got home from coffee, after talking to my daddy on the phone for an hour, I watched Jenny's Wedding while waiting for my friend Lauren to finish up her errands so that we could hang out.

Lauren & I wound up going to Lazy Dog, which is one of my favorite places, so that we could get a beer & eat but also bring our dogs.  My special one got himself under the fence so he was outside of the patio but couldn't figure out how to get himself back to me.  He was actually a lot calmer out there & the little kids that would walk by loved him.  (He was still attached to the fence & couldn't escape don't worry!)  He loved the attention & I gave him a toy to play with.  Plus he prefers being a rocks & grass dog to a concrete dog.  After eating we went to the dog park that I used to always take Nash to until he got attacked by another dog on the little dog side.  Because he rightfully hates that side, Lauren's dogs are bigger, & Nash is technically big enough for the big dog side we went over there.  Towards the end another dog latched onto his face (he's fine) but other than that all was well.  Nash was trying to herd dogs left & right or lay down in the somewhat muddy mess near the water fountains.  I still don't know that we'll be going to dog parks all that often because I just don't trust other people's dogs.

Sunday
Sunday morning started with me watching Steel Magnolias for the movie challenge since I had still never seen it before.  After a pep talk from a few people, mama included, at less than a month from 30 I had to initiate my first breakup.  I'm sure that probably comes as a shock since all I've ever talked about when it came to The Boyfriend were our outings...except when I also mentioned that I called him annoying...  He was just too much.  We were running at two very different paces when it came to the relationship & at the end of the day we didn't have enough in common to make it work as well as were very different on a couple of big things.  While he was rightfully hurt, upset, & confused, he handled it as well as one could ask for.  I honestly felt relieved afterwards.

I then went on with my day as planned.  I drove about an hour north to go to a pumpkin patch where I got to feed some cows, make some horse friends, & buy no pumpkins.  But I was reminded just how much I love that area & how calm I feel when I'm there.  After walking around there for a little bit I got back in my car & drove another hour north.  I drove 200 miles round trip & crossed state lines just to get the cajun catfish from Two Frogs Grill.  Yes, it is that good!

I was so tired when I got home I had no motivation to do anything.  Trey called me though & asked if I wanted to go help him find some wine for his girlfriend & since I wasn't actually being productive anyway I agreed to it.  We headed to Dallas to find the wine because apparently he had been cooped up in the house all weekend watching football while she worked & needed to get out.  He was supposed to meet her family so I had to pep talk him up on that.  Once he dropped me off I put on another movie for the challenge, Drinking Buddies, made some supper, & did some quick lesson planning before bed.

And now to link up with Andrea for the Fall 2.0 round of TBB Asks.

1. Favorite Fall Color?
Burgundy & Gray

2. Apple Cider HOT or COLD?
Neither.  I've never been an apple cider fan.

3. Caramel Apple: Yes or No?
I want to say yes.  I mean I do like them.  However, I'm more likely to eat apple slices dipped in caramel sauce from the tubs than a whole apple dipped in caramel.  So if that counts, then yes.

4. Pumpkin Doughnut or Apple Cider Doughnut?
Again neither.  As a person who loves fall, I'm not a fan of the fall flavors.  I like the weather, colors, & clothing.

5. Long or Short Cardigan?
Short.

6. Favorite Football or Fall Party Food?
Chips & hot dips

7. Orange or White Pumpkins?
Both.  I love how they look mixed together.

8. Hayride or Bonfire?
Bonfire

9. Favorite Fall Baked Good?
Pecan Pie

10.  Most anticipated Fall activity?
Texas State Fair!

  6. I'm sorry to hear about the break-up, that sucks. I'm so behind in my blog reading, I didn't even realize there was boyfriend, whoops! Strangely enough, I also initiated my first break-up just before turning 30, and it also went as well as I could hope. I'm glad to hear that talking to someone is helping! You know I love my therapy haha!!

  8. I love that the players get to ask teachers to wear their jersey. That seems like a good way to get people involved... and the math department had a lunch for the social studies department?! What is this life??

Good for you on making a tough decision regarding the boyfriend. While it sucks, I'm sure, it's also good to be honest with yourself and others about where you are and what you want. I'm proud of you.

Hope your appointment goes well today. <3
