The First One Back In Minnesota

Friday
Friday was such a waste of a day.  My seniors had taken their final the week before so we all just showed up to watch movies until 1.  Heck, some of them didn't even show up.  I don't blame them.  The only reason I showed up is because I had to.  We watched Free Willy in my first class, finished Little Rascals in my second, & then started Boss Baby.  The day went by so slow!  I felt like 1 would never arrive.  Alas, it did.  And then I hauled ass out the doors & home to get Nash.  We then started the journey to Kansas.

Normally we go to Kansas City but since I didn't leave my apartment until 2:30 we only went as far as Wichita this time.  I only stay in La Quinta now when I have Nash with me because they all allow dogs at no extra cost.  This hotel had me wishing that Wichita was the halfway point.  It was brand new (only open for 5 months) & was really nice.  In fact I could tell the whole development area was new within the last year or less.  Just down the road there was a Blaze Pizza, which I had never been to before but apparently live close to 2 locations back in Texas.  The pizza was so good & such a good deal.  I got an 11 inch pizza for under $9.  I got the White Stripe.  When I got back to the hotel I stopped at the bar in the lobby to get a drink.  I only wanted 1 but for some reason she made (and charged me for) 2 whiskey mules.  Whatever, I drank 1.5 of them while watching HGTV with Nash & then fell asleep.

Saturday
Saturday morning I made the mistake of having to go to the bathroom at 4:30 am.  Nash knows wake-up time is 5 am & 4:30 is so close to that that he was like "OK LET'S GO I'M REAAAADDYYY!"  Fine.  So I got dressed, packed everything up, took him out to go to the bathroom, checked out, & we were on the road.  I had gotten a Starbucks gift card from one of my students for Christmas & there was one just down the road so I planned on stopping there before getting back on the toll road.  Nope.  Online it said they opened at 5.  At the store the window & door said they opened at 6.  I got there at 5:45.  I was not about to sit and wait another 15 minutes so I just went on my way.  Someone else apparently thought the same thing because as I was pulling out of the drive through I saw a guy in a truck pull up, walk to the door, & get right back in his truck & leave.

Our drive back to Minnesota was entirely uneventful & long.  When I stop in Kansas City the drive is split almost in half.  7.5 hours, 7.5 hours.  This time it was about 10 hours the second day.  It's definitely not the longest I've ever driven in one day but when the days are so short & a lot of the drive is spent in darkness, it's SO boring!  You got nothing to the left, nothing to the right.

When I got back to my parents' house we got all settled in.  My brother has a kitten named Suki and is about a month or 2 older than Nash.  They spent the weekend deciding if they like each other or not.  They mostly tolerate each other now but the cat started out as an asshole.  Like would growl even if Nash wasn't bothering her & would steal his toy but not really play with it.  She'd just keep the toy hostage & stare at Nash like I dare you to come & get it.

Sunday

I took basically no pictures on Sunday but I also didn't do a whole lot.  I was lazy most of the morning & then drove to the cities to meet up with my friend Bridgette so we could watch the Vikings dominate the Bengals to clinch the division at JJs Clubhouse.  If it hadn't been so chilly out, and it wasn't getting dark out, I would have loved to just drive around Minneapolis taking pictures.  Maybe in the summer I'll come back and do that.  I really do love Minneapolis.  On the way back I made sure to stop at Caribou to get my coffee fix & then just hung out at hoe the rest of the night.  My mama made homemade chicken wild rice soup because it's my favorite and she loves me.
