Labor Day Weekend

Labor Day weekend is already a long weekend for most, but mine was even longer than normal this year.  This year I got a 5 day weekend which made coming back to work this morning really rough.  I had originally planned on doing my recap a little differently, as in a play by play of my drive to & from Minnesota, but I lost track/interest part way into Oklahoma.  So instead this recap is mostly pictures.  Let's be honest, after a long weekend that's probably about all y'all really want anyway.  Linking up with Biana!

Thursday
Around 5:45 in the morning Nash & I finally hit the road for Minnesota.  We drove straight through.  The drive is about a 15.5-16 hour drive.  By the time we got back to my parents' place that night it had been about 17 hours in the car.  That's really not all that terrible considering gas stops & bathroom breaks for both me & Nash.  He's really good in the car.  He makes a terrible copilot but he's an excellent car rider.  He pretty much slept the entire trip, unless of course he heard or smelled me eating...then he was all up in my business...

Friday
Friday was a pretty chill day, which was nice since the long drive had taken a lot out of me.  My mom, brother, & I went to lunch & ate crappy Mexican food.  The stereotype of Mexican food being crappy up north is sadly true more often than not.  That afternoon my dad got home & then the 4 of us grilled steaks & then had a bonfire.  Side note: my dog Jack does not like Nash.

Saturday
Saturday was wedding day.  The bride, my cousin/best friend Becky, looked gorgeous.  I don't have like any pictures because I was in it but when some of the professional ones come back I'll try to remember to share some.  The wedding was beautiful & a tearjerker.  Both the bride & groom have kids from previous marriages so during the ceremony they took time to talk to each of the kids.

Sunday
Sunday I slept in a little bit, had breakfast with my family, & then packed up my car & Nash so we could start our journey back to Texas.  I am so glad that I had a hotel booked in Kansas City.  The weekend had been so exhausting that I would not have made it all the way back to Texas.  When we got to the hotel I decided to use Grubhub to order some food because I didn't want pizza.  I ordered a burger & fries from Rock N Brews.  It took over an hour & was all cold when I got it.  Luckily I had a microwave which helped a little bit.  I then took to Twitter to complain.  In almost no time Grubhub got back to me & gave me a code for $25 to cover the cost of my meal.  I let Nash sleep in the bed with me for the first time ever.  He did really well with it.  We fell asleep watching Dirty Dancing.

Monday
I woke up & left later than I wanted to.  I had planned on waking up around 5:45-6 so I could leave by 6:30ish.  I didn't wake up until 6:20 & getting ready took until almost 8.  That pretty much set the tone for the whole day.  What was supposed to be a 7.5 hour drive turned into an almost 9 hour drive because of construction & traffic.  When we finally got home I unpacked, used my Grubhub voucher...the food was kind of shitty but I wanted to try out a new place.  At least it was free!  I watched The Office for awhile, got some planning for today done, & then went to bed around 8:30.

I really wish I had another day off.  I know I just had 5 but I need a day to just chill & this week is about to be crazy.  I have an away game today, a junior high tournament tomorrow, a game Friday, & a tournament Saturday.  Poor Nash is about to go from constantly being around me to never seeing me.
