Hello February

What I Was Up To
Monday I got my taxes done!  I love doing my taxes/getting them done.  It makes me feel so accomplished.  That's like one of the few things in life I don't procrastinate on.  Now I'm just waiting for my refund so I can pay some stuff off & get my next tattoo.

Tuesday I took the day off to focus on grad school work.  That is not what happened.  What happened is I took the day off.  I am such a procrastinator it's ridiculous.  My problem is that I know I can get away with it.  For example, all that was really due was some readings & a reflection.  I skimmed the readings, did the reflection that night, & got 100.  I skimmed/read enough to participate in discussions in class both days so it all still worked out.  That night I went to my old basketball girls' senior night game.  I miss those girls so much.

Wednesday was work & then class like always.  The beginning of my Wednesday night class always gets me so heated.  The professor starts by asking what's going on in the news & then wants us to discuss it & give our opinions on it.  Luckily my friend that sits next to me basically has the same opinions as I do so I'm not completely alone, but we both keep our mouths shut because not only are we outnumbered by our peers, based on a few comments I'm pretty sure the professor feels differently than we do as well.  I can almost guarantee come next week I'm going to snap.  I already mutter stuff under my breath as it is.

Thursday was more work & more class.  However, Thursdays usually mean going out for drinks afterwards with two of my friends.  It's pretty much the highlight of my week all week because it's my only real socialization that's not at work or in class.

I had come across a picture while Facebook stalking myself the other day of when I went really dark with my hair & wound up posting it on Instagram for my Throwback Thursday post.  The more I looked at it the more I missed my dark hair.  I haven't done anything other than trim may hair in over a year now & I was planning on not doing anything to it for a really long time.  However, I got a wild hair & booked an appointment to get my hair dyed...in Houston.  I went back & forth on this all day long.  I have had one girl do my hair since living in Texas.  If she wasn't the one doing it then it was one of 2 girls back in Minnesota that I've been going to for FOREVER.  It seemed ridiculous to drive 3.5-4 hours to get my hair done though so I was like I'll find a Groupon up here.  Found one, Yelped them, they had terrible reviews.  It was at that moment I decided to just stick with the girl I knew & loved & make a short weekend trip out of it back to Houston to see a friend or 2.

  3. Oh man, that class must be awkward! I'm not big on discussing political things with people because everyone has their own opinion and then sometimes it's like they try to tell you you're wrong and it's just no bueno so I tend to keep my mouth shut lol. Those states things are hilarious, enjoy your weekend!

    1. Once we get into the class it's fine because that's not what the whole class is...but that first 15-20 min is brutal.

  5. I feel like a slacker since I just submitted my taxes today. usually they are completed the day my W2 arrives.

Speak out in your class. You'll do it and hopefully someone will realize that they need to stop ignoring the minority... and/or you'll feel better.

  6. I don't understand people who procrastinate on their taxes, they make me feel accomplished. I'm hoping I'll get a little bit of a refund this year and am thinking I might put it all on my student loan, super boring but productive. Those descriptions of states are super funny!
