I have no concrete plans to leave the state of Texas anytime in the near future. However, that isn't stopping me from dreaming up vacations and places that I would like to go this year. Plus, I do have some travel plans, they just happen to be within Texas. That counts right? I mean Texas is huge. East to West is the same distance as my hometown in central Minnesota to Oklahoma City.
So let's start with where I am going...
San Antonio
Every year for as long as I've lived in Texas I have have gone to San Antonio in February. My friend Robyn, who I met in college & briefly went to high school with, moved to San Antonio just before I moved to Houston. Pretty crazy small world. Anyway, it is our annual tradition to go to the San Antonio Rodeo. We have managed to mess this up one way or another every single year. This year is going to be our year. It has to be ha. Year 5 we are going to nail this rodeo experience.
Houston
I have set plans to go to Houston in March. It started as me wanting my hair dyed by the only girl I trust to do so in Texas. It turned into I should probably try to do more than that & visit old friends while I'm there. I am also strongly considering going again in April. When I go in March I'll pretty much just be there for a day so I'd like to go for a long weekend, or even just a regular weekend in April. Plus, the weekend that I'm thinking in April would be my friend's birthday weekend & I'd be able to see more people than I will be able to in March. My trip in March is pretty much going to consist of two stepping, line dancing, margaritas, & tacos. That's really all a girl needs in Houston anyway.
Minnesota
This one is pretty much a given since that's where I'm from. However, this will be the first year I'm not going back for the whole summer. My 10 year high school reunion is at the end of July though & as much as I don't actually care about it, I'm the one that wound up planning it...again...& so I feel as if I almost have to. Plus, I made it so it's the same weekend as our county fair & it's just a good excuse to go home.
Now where I am very likely going...
Chicago
I love Chicago. It is one of my top two favorite cities in all of the US, New Orleans being the other. I never get sick of being there. I was already looking into baseball games there this summer as I've never been to either ballpark. But then I got an email for the Windy City Smokeout which is a 3 day country music, beer, & BBQ festival. Kip Moore is a headliner & right now I can get tickets for $80 with the promo code they sent me. I missed Kip last time he was in town & haven't been to Chicago since my 27th birthday so I'm almost 100% sure I'm going to buy tickets.
Where I would like to go...
California/Oregon/Washington
I have it on my 101 in 1001 list, as well as my 29 by 29 list, that I would like to visit the West Coast. I have zero real plans of actually doing this but my 29th birthday is in October of this year & my 101 list ends in I believe March of 2018 so if I'm going to cross them off...this is the year it needs to happen. Dream trip would be to do the Pacific Coast Highway. It's not impossible, especially if I do it in the summer, I'd just need to find someone who can take that kind of time off in the summer to do it with me. And I'd have to figure out when to do that since July is pretty much out with Minnesota & Chicago. Not that it has to be summer...or even the PCH.
Of course the real answer to this one is I'd like to go to all the places but I'm trying to be both realistic with my time and money.
Where are some places that you are planning on going, or would like to go, in 2017?
So many great places on your list! I hope you are able to make the PCH happen. I loved our time there! Of course, you know how I feel about Chicago. <3
