...or 21 days until I'm on the road...but that's not a song...
Cory Morrow - 21 Days
I can't believe that 3 weeks from today I'll be back on the road headed for Texas! Where has the summer gone?? I am so ready to meet the people I'll be working with & getting back into a routine but I'm not excited of the thought about actually being back at work again...

Friday
Around lunch time I went into my mom's office to help out there for a few hours with scanning & entering data. At about 3:30 I headed out so I could meet a couple of friends in the cities. I was laughing at all of the people sitting still because they were headed north to cabins & to go camping for the weekend when karma struck. Suddenly I found myself sitting still in south bound road construction. Well played karma, well played.
Eventually I made it to the place & after a parking fiasco I finally found a spot & we all headed in. We went to a place called Lord Fletcher's. It's on Lake Minnetonka which is where the rich people live. Prince, you know the song Purple Rain, yeah he has/had a home on Lake Minnetonka. There was a radio station there doing giveaways for the Kenny Chesney concert. Sadly, I didn't win. He has his own rum. Blue Chair Bay, so the bar had a few different drinks on special with his rum. I am not a rum person whatsoever but I figured, you can't beat a $4 drink & when in Rome Lake Minnetonka. It was called a Blue Jean Baby. I actually really liked it. It's just rum & coke with lime. I'm a whiskey/coke girl but it worked.
The giveaways were done at 7 & none of us won so we decided to head out. The place was fun but one girl had other plans & it was super hot & humid out. Favorite College Roommate & I, inspired by the calamari I ordered there, decided to hit up Red Lobster since we had a couple of hours to kill before going to see Trainwreck. That meal totally hit the spot. I wish I had had room for chocolate cake but it's probably best I didn't ha. We got to the movie just as the previews were starting. It was so funny. The cast was perfect. I definitely recommend Trainwreck if you haven't seen it yet.
Favorite College Roommate brought me back to my car about midnight & I headed home. That storm picture is not mine. I got it off the Kare 11 website in the photos section. I didn't take any photos because I was trying not to die. I'm only being a tad dramatic when I say that. I got in my car & tornado warnings started for the area I was in. Keep in mind I live 1.5-2 hours north of where I was. It wasn't raining yet so I just drove home. I figured I could get out of the immediate area before anything big hit. I was pretty much correct. I never did see the tornado(s) that touched down but I did hit torrential down pour for about half of my drive. The last 45ish min it let up & it was just a light rain but between the downpour, sweet lightening show (I really wish I had been able to video/photograph it), & road construction I was trying to sing myself out of tension most of the drive. At about 1:30 in the morning I rolled home & went to bed.
Saturday
Saturday was pretty relaxed as a weekend day should be. It was such a nice day out. I finally remembered that I needed to put air in one of my tires so I checked all of mine & then did my mom's car as well. I then spent a lot of the day lounging around. It may be mid-July but the hammock just got set up in the yard. I started out just relaxing in the hammock enjoying the weather & then eventually wound up napping for nearly an hour out there! Daddy was finally home, he hadn't been at home since 4th of July weekend, so we did some grilling & drank some beers. I also watched part of the Brett Favre hall of fame induction & a lot of HGTV...which led me to once again look at houses for sale online.
Sunday
Why is it that when I have nothing to do for the day I have absolutely no problem waking up at 5-6 am but when I have to be up at 5 am to go to work it's like pulling teeth? I first woke up at 5:30 but decided to stay in bed for a bit, dozed off, & then finally got out of bed at 6:30. I headed into town to get my favorite gas station coffee. When I got back my dad was up so the 2 of us drank coffee & talked for an hour or so before my brother got up & left for work. Then my dad ran to town & I did the dishes. After finishing the dishes I enjoyed more coffee on the front porch with my dog. My dad got back about the time my mom got out of bed & then the 3 of us had breakfast. That my friends is how every morning should start. Coffee outside & family. The rest of the day was completely uneventful. There was a Back To The Future marathon & I went back & forth between watching that & wandering around aimlessly because I was going a little stir crazy.

I so don't mind when I have to get up on early on the weekends but when i have to get up for work, it's hell. I never want to wake up to go to work. It's probably because I don't really love my job, it's getting stale. It's so hard trying to find a new job and a job that you will actually love.
ReplyDeleteI also have no problem getting up with it's a weekend or vacation.

Sounds like an awesome weekend minus the parking fiasco. I heard Trainwreck was hilarious so I definitely need to watch it soon!
ReplyDeleteRum and Coke used to be my drink of choice. Just can't hang anymore though. Trainwreck looks so funny, glad it was worth it.
