Daddy's Day Weekend

Friday
Friday morning I headed to Kickass Cousin's house so that we could spend the day together.  We went to one of the lakes in Minneapolis & decided that we wanted to go pedal boating.  We were hilariously horrible at it.  Afterwards we got seafood tacos & the finished walking around the lake.  We already had plans to meet up with Music Soulmate that night for a concert but had more time to kill so we went to a different park & checked out the Mill City Ruins.  We also got ice cream & without even discussing what we wanted before ordering got the exact same flavors but in opposite order.  I got salted caramel with a baby scoop of mint chocolate chip & she got mint chocolate chip with a baby scoop of salted caramel because related.  It was finally time to head off to the concert.  We saw Maiden Dixie, Brian Collins Band, & Love and Theft.  I had seen Maiden Dixie before & I really like them.  Brian Collins was definitely my favorite though.  Love & Theft annoyed me honestly.  I like their music but they played mostly covers, were charging $40 for meet and greets when they are not nearly famous enough to be doing so in a small unsold out venue, & other annoying things.  Overall the concert was fun & it was a great day.  After the show Kickass Cousin, Music Soulmate, & I went out to breakfast where I felt incredibly old being surrounded by essentially nothing but teenagers & wondering why the hell they were out so late.

Saturday
Saturday morning I left Kickass Cousin's house & headed home.  My dad got to come home last minute for father's day weekend (he does bridge construction & is working on a project out of state.)  Despite being incredibly tired, because I'm too old to be out until 2 in the flippin morning & wake up 5-6 hours later, I spent much of the day lawn mower shopping with my parents.  That night we grilled steak & sweet potatoes for supper & I made peach cobbler for dessert.

Sunday
Because it's summer we apparently grill all the time...as we should.  I spent the morning with my family & then headed to Kickass Cousin's house once again.  I was in search of a shirt that I had seen a girl wearing when we were out & about on Friday & I needed to have it.  So we went shopping (didn't find it there & wound up ordering it online...in a size that probably won't fit me but it's all that was left & I had to try...) & then went out for a late lunch of unlimited soup, salad, & bread sticks at Olive Garden.  After lunch I dropped her off & headed back home.  We had grilled chicken for supper along with green beans & baby red potatoes.  For dessert my mom made strawberry rhubarb crisp.  We ended the night by watching The Gambler with Marky Mark.

  2. I should really get better at grilling, but my comfort is on the stove/in the oven (and it doesn't require me having to melt outside in the CHS "spring" weather. Also, those desserts make me all the jealous.
