6. Share one of your favorite recipes and the story behind it.
-Chicken Wild Rice Soup (There's no great story behind it...it's just my favorite soup that my mom makes)

2/3 c uncooked wild rice
2 Tbsp butter
1 Tbsp minced onion
1/3 c diced carrots
1/3 c diced celery
1/4 c flour
1 qt chicken broth heated
2-3 c diced chicken
1/2 tsp salt
pepper to taste
1/2 tsp poultry seasoning
1 c half & half

Rinse wild rice, soak in cold water for 1 hour.  Drain rice; cover with boiling water & cook over low heat for 40 minutes.  Melt butter in 4 qt pan.  Sauté onion, carrots, & celery until tender; blend in flour.  Gradually add the heated chicken broth stirring constantly until slightly thickened.  Stir in the rice, meat, & seasonings.  Simmer over low heat for 10 minutes.  Add the half & half slowly to the soup.  Heat just to serving temperature.  Makes 6 bowls or 12 cups.
