Nearly 5 years & 8 months ago I moved down to Houston for the first time to complete my student teaching. Not knowing if any of us would return or not that fall, my roommates & I made sure to make the most of our 4 months there. However, that August I did move back to start teaching.

Because of the many people I still know in Houston, both friends & former students, my Facebook feed is about 95% Hurricane Harvey related. And as much as it makes me want to cry, I'm glad. I like knowing the people that I care about are safe. I love seeing how the people of Houston have come together to help each other out. Whether it be posting safe locations, sharing information about those who need help, or videos & pictures of people actually getting help. My heart absolutely breaks for everyone not just in Houston, but also those along the coast who have experience the devastation of Hurricane Harvey.
If you want to help out here is a list of ways that you can donate, & not just money.
Gosh praying for your friends and loved ones in Houston. I cant even imagine. The photos have me, who has never been to Houston, devastated. So so sad.

ReplyDeleteI was thinking of you amid all the Harvey chaos. (I have no concept of where the different cities are in Texas and how close they are to each other!) Glad to see that you're ok and hope that your friends and loved ones stay safe.
ReplyDeleteWe share so many of the same things about Houston - I'm hoping the city heals quickly
